............to strip down my plastics to install the newly arrived Yosh Japan System
Me looking at the bits and pieces.........
Right side fairly OK..........
Radiator to a hit..........
So did the can............ according to my friend there was a lot of white sparks coming of that can
Front took some beatin..........
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...........
The R&G slider did it's job..........
Skid across some reflectors which ripped this hole in my leathers. A'stars GPU 2 piece
Bit's & pieces. The front assembly was knocked straight off the bike at first touchdown. had to pick it up amid the traffic. It was laiyng in the middle of the road.
I am NOT a happy man at this moment..........
This is were it all took place. I was coming towards you in the pic.
The road here is VERY bumpy and even a offroad bike would have his handful in negotiating thse bumps and a high speed.
I had just intiated the right hand turn at around 60-70 mph when passing the yellow box you see on left and from there everything went all wrong.
Bike skidded 720 degrees around and came to rest after hitting the autobarrier quite hard. I was laying in the middle of the opposite lane besides the front assembly.
I have taken ridden this corner hundreds of times and more than a dozen of times at fairly the same speed with the K2.
What surprized me and my friend coming behind me was how early I went down. I still can't really figure that out. I have been thinking about my suspension set up, but the only thing I can think of is that I have slowed down the rebound a little which might cause packing right? Can't se that this has anything to do with the incident though
After anylizing this numerous times I have to come to that I hit a quite big bump just where the turn starts (my friend thought he saw the rear lift), this unsettled the bike heavily and when I hit more bumps it all just whent "to pieces".
I rode the same turn with the Ohlins equipped K2 two daya later and I do feel that the bumps here are more serious than before. Even the K2 had problems now and that bike has gone through there with ease before.
To defend my stupidity a little on taking such a well known bumpy turns at these speeds I should mention that I have done it so many times before. I have always enjoyed the feel of the suspension coping with these conditions.
On saturday I overcooked it a little and may have taken a different line, but it sure was a strange lowside.
All in all a rider error and a plain and simple mistake from my part.
As for me I am OK. A bit bruced up and my butt don't feel that good.
However it was a luck escape. 30 seconds later and would have skidded into a bunch of upcoming traffic and it all could have been that much worse. That should be the positive note on all this.
Time to start ordering parts and exccept for the plastics there are not many OEM parts going on this bike now.
