Why? Forgive my ignorance, I know nothing about turbo charging
Turbo's need time to cool off before switching the engine off Chris.

I used to love my sr20det 200sx!!!

its a garrett turbo it has water ports so i could hook them up but theres prob enough strain on the cooling system as is so i didnt. some say turbo timing on a bike isnt needed due to turbo being air cooled while riding , but i usually wait at least 30 sec to shut it off

i dont use any turbo timers on my GN, although i do wait a few seconds before shutting her down after hard driving

the main thing is to get the turbo to spin back down to idle rpms when coming to a stop, that way it wont be spinning without oil due to the motor being off

oh i always thought the turbo timer was to circulate fluids and cool the turbo, but the lack of oil bit does make sense, on the same note how long will it spin with no exhaust pressure to turn it?

Turbo timer as far as i know is, you can take the key out, lock the doors and walk away.....whatever the timer is set at, thats when the timer kills the engine, mine was set at 60secs.

yes i agree Armi, i was just wondering with the engine shut off how long the turbo would continue to spin after engine was shut off

and ya i hate sanding too. i dont have a power sander so i did it all by hand which is worse. and the frame was polished when i got it ya.
x2, sanding sucks. Reminds me of my very first bike... I hand sanded it in the cold outside one winter. My hands hurt so bad. Paid a shop to paint it with left over paint from my car - 96 Cobra.

I am no painter, but I don't think powder coating is dependent upon a surface finish prior to application.
I powdercoated my K2 750 frame, subframe and swingarm. The coater I used got my parts Chromated (like etch primer) before he coated them. He'd never done a motorbike frame before, but he was an industrial coater that did alot of coating on aluminium parts and recomended it. :dunno if it made any difference, it still looks good.

How much would this run here in the states? Anyone got any idea.

Im thinking of getting the frame powdercoated while I got it tore down.
