Race Fuel Question.......

How long is it good for once open? And if stored in say something like a VP utility jug, does that or can that prolong the life of the fuel?

Also what is the longest you can leave the fuel in your take (sitting) without it doing damage? Last weekend I ran a full tank of VP's U4 with about a cup full left in the tank after the ride. I later put about a half tank of 93 in and ran that through for about 20 miles or so. I will not be able to ride this weekend do to weather but don't want to mess up something with it sitting in the tank... although it is only a small amount left.

It's a back and forth debate and you will probably get opinions on both sides. But if it's properly sealed it should keep for at least a little bit. But if not sealed it will go bad quickly.

Ok,for Oxygenated fuels, such as U4&MR9;once you crack the 5 gallon pail it's only good for a day or two. It's not recommended to keep it in your tank either as it's highly corrosive.
It's a good idea to drain yer tank a.s.a.p. when your done riding it.

As far as C12,C16 and other leaded race fuels that are non-oxygenated etc go,as long as you keep it in a container that's impervious to U.V. rays it lasts a couple months.

It's definitely a good practice to spray some WD40 down your intake ports and crank the engine over a few times. If you don't your bores will rust VERY quickly if you don't run the bike.....
Trust me,I ignored this advice from a very well known engine builder&found out the hard way.Read:$$$$$$$$$
