any one know a site were i can get a quick action throttle that does not interfere with the kill switch prefere a standard 75% to a 50 ish % turn and prefere a tried and tested item

i cant use ebay im banned over a pay pal dispute were i was conned out of a lot of money!!!!!!

Considering the kik switch is part of the throttle housing you want find anything aftermarket that doesn't involve the switch
Best bet will be use an r6 tube

"standard 75% to a 50 ish % turn"

Don't know what that means but the standard solution is an R1 tube or an R6 tube if you want something faster yet and are prepared to do a bit of grinding. Motion Pro and others offer something even faster but for significantly more money. In rough terms, the OEM is 1/4 turn while the R1 is 1/5 turn and the R6 is 1/6 turn. Others go to 1/7 turn. There are lots of threads here about the R1/R6 tubes. See here but some of the posts have mixed up info.

I have an R6 tube on mine. It is 1/6th turn. There was no grinding or any modifying necessary to install it. I simply removed the standard one and installed the R6 one. Everything still works perfectly. This is the second 1000 I have done this on and it was simple both times.

Contact one of the site sponsors and ask about an R6 throttle tube, I bet they can help.

^Are you sure it's the R6 tube? See this and the discussion about the need to grind. Actually it's my understanding that grinding the housing isn't enough and that you'll get some binding unless you also remove some of the metal end on the throttle cable. There's another thread here somewhere with pics about that.

Hey Bill, maybe it isn't, but the two I bought on ebay were both from a company called Motion Pro. They were listed as R6 throttle tubes. I have had absolutely no issues with binding or anything.

Here is a link to the one I have used on 2 different bikes, one on my old K5 and then one on my current K6. I just put the one on the K6 about a month ago.

Let me know if you see anything that might look out of place or if maybe this isn't actually an R6 tube. It definitely made a noticeable difference and reduced the amount of twist required to get to WOT.

I think the only way to tell is to measure the pulley diameter and compare it to the dimensions in the link. If you search for Yamaha 4YR-26240-02-00 you'll get a bunch of hits for R1, FZ1, FZ6, and FZ6R. A search for Yamaha 2C0-26240-00-00 gives hits for R6, R6S, and YZFR6. The Motion Pro is listed for all those applications so it's impossible to tell what it is. I use the 4YR-26240-02-00. It's definitely faster than OEM and is plenty for me.

P.S. Here's the info about cutting the tube on the throttle cable.

That's a Motion Pro tube that fits the R6, different than a Yamaha OEM R6 tube. I have the R1 tube on my K7 & am very happy with it. The only thing I had to do was grind a small lip off the inner end that was there to fit into only the Yamaha OEM grip that had a groove molded into it. Real easy with a Dremel or a file. I also cut off the plastic donut that was on the inside to go between the grip & throttle housing.

i got one and fitted it, its a hairy r,s 1/5 th turn and is perfect for the road and is how suzuki should be sending bikes from the factory, one grab gets the whole range of throttle ....just about..!

15mins to fit no cutting or grinding and i looked inside the throttle housing and its not physically possible to snag or jam so should be a sound investment, its transformed my bike to ride not snatchy or a hand ful at all

i strongly recommend this product

I've you use your throttle hand properly... not like a hammer, it will turn the entire range with a 1/4 just fine unless you have some odd medical condition ;)

got some trouble with the hairy rs throttle

its on and cables are adjusted great but it only lasts a short ride befor the cable falls of the guide

the return cable keeps slipping of the side of the area were its lays when the throttle is twisted, any one got any little trick fixes,

or any one know of a better 1/5th or less quick action throttle thats a reasonable price

Don't claim that this will fix the problem but the instructions clearly state that you should cut 5 mm off of the pull cable sleeve. So it sounds like you didn't install it correctly.

As I recall, the R1 and R6 throttles mentioned earlier used to run about $12 but they're now about the same as Hairy R's. The R1 doesn't require any cutting.

i just ended up going to the local yami dealer and bought a R1 tube. cost like 9.00. has worked perfectly for last 6 years..

is that 1/6 1/5 1/4 turn,,

for me ideally it would be 1/4 turn ( very short twist) i have 1/5 hairy rs and the cables are tensioned nicely but the cable keeps coming off the side

i have the throttle curing at the moment ive made a araldite cable guide around the edges of the hairy rs part this will make a nice cable guide for the cable to sit in

any one know of a better 1/5 or 1/4 turn throttle

on the subject of the 5mm cut on the cables

just for the record the hairy rs i got is gsxr1000 k5/k6 was new in unopened box and fitted fine with no cutting of outer cables, the instructions that came with it gave no mention any were about cutting outer cables..

if i was to start cutting outer cables it would be pointless as they dont need any cutting, id just be taking up even more slack with the cable adjusters,

so to clear a point up, there is no cutting needed on the gsxr 1000 k5/ k6, i can speak for other bikes though,

although i advise making cable guides on the edges of the hairy rs part like i am
