Hey guys...i read someone elses post on a clutch fluid being a bit dark for a brand new bike and then i realized i noticed it last week also...

mines pretty f'in dark for having only 1100 miles on my bike...

so whats the story? ive never had a hydro clutch before. is this something i should worry about?

2 ways to fix this.. get a diff slave cylinder or get a longer shift rod.. this is probably due to the fact the slave cylinder is small and working all the way to the end of the bore and on the way back picking up dirt... i noticed this i took the discassati completly off and accidently pulled the lever when its fully extended it will leak fluid at the cylinder wall, luckly mines was brand new so no dirt and after all the proper adjustments it works like butter...

Im gettin ready to install my Speigler lines and I bought a bottle of that MOTUL RB600 something race brake fluid. Would this stuff hold up better in the clutch than the crap that suzuki put in it?
RBF600 is racing braking fluid. It works great in the short term, but is designed to be replaced frequently, not last a long time.

Go with Valvoline SynPower instead.

Hard to comment based on a description, but your clutch fluid WILL turn dark quickly with a hydraulic set up.

I've noticed the fluid going dark on every 07 GSXR 1K I've come across thus far...maybe 15 including mine. Mine started darkening after about 500miles.
Look at the clutch fluid reservoir on a Ducati 1098 or Honda CBR1000RR. Both have a similar set up. I’d be curious to know if they darkened just the same.

As for clutch performance problems…aside from a few user related miss-shifts I’ve had no problem.

This is common and nothing to worry about. It happened on my Aprilia Tuono and it happened on my 06 CBR1000rr and it's happening on my Gixxer. The fluid went almost black on my Honda but there was no deterioration in function. I think some CBR owners changed the line to S/S, but the fluid still darkened.

Calm down Cobra!!! You must be the Suzuki mole or a previous Honda owner.. I've had 2 previous gixxers that were cable actuated for the clutch so this system is new to me... No need for the rebuttal post.... I have heard the infamous squeal noise for about 5min of riding a little after the 600 mile service... I just don't want the bike to strand my ass somewhere like it did for the stator... Maybe your ass needs to break down somewhere and look like a fool on a brand new bike... If it's normal than I apologize to you HO!!!

Ha...no. My bad man. Every person I've run into on the street complains about it, and each time I kinda chuckle. I'm seeing more and more people complaining about it (which is about right as people are starting to put the first hundred miles on). I've seen so many complaints and recall requests on here for things that are simple fixes, or normal.

My appolgies to you for popping...guess I need some sleep. :cheers
