IF....that is the symptom you have at the track, the solution is rather simple. The requisite float height should be 7-8 mm. YOU find this happening after practice and a long rough trailer session to the track, or even a crash. You remove carbs and check float height (I bet you find float height high)....lower it back down to the desired range, but don't go to far beyond.
Measurement Adjusted result
9-12 8
8 7
Still experiencing it, and sure that you don't have and intake leak, go to 6 mm.

Just before putting my bike away for winter somehow or another (younger brother suspected) I came home from work to find my bike laying on its side. I stood it back up and let it sit for a good 2 hours before i tried to start it. Gave it a shot and sure enough it was hydrolocked.

Two months ago I pulled it out of storage to start it and let it warm up, it worked perfect. Yesterday I pulled it out for the "spring is coming, I am getting excited" start and warm up and sure enough.... hydrolocked again.

This thread was dead center of the page when i logged in, and no doubt the shock of the impact messed with my floats. I will be checking as per these directions and am crossing my fingers that it will solve my issues! If you have any other thoughts of things I should check, feel free to post. Oh and for the record my bike worked A-1 all summer.

Cheers!

I don't have a lot of experience with carbs, but this thread is very helpful. Most of what I've worked on with carbs is lawn equipment and some older tractors. I just tore into the SV we bought for my wife last fall to get it ready for this season. I know the carbs would need to be cleaned and checked.

Looks like they've never been cleaned. Inside the bowls looked like hair gel. This is my first experience with CV carbs, and it's interesting to say the least.
