Gonna look really stupid on that bike, chrome on a K5 i. Especially with the black powdercoated frame, unless you plan on chroming that too, in which case........

But if you really have a hard-on to do it, thechromespot did it to his:

I sent my pvm Y5's in to be chromed. I didn't get a chance to weigh the front as I bought a new one. The rear I weighed before and after.
before: 13lb 5.5oz
after: 13lb 13.5oz
these are on my 03 1000.
stock rear wheel 16lb 3oz
stock front 9lb 9oz
powder coated stock front 9lb 12 oz

stock front rotor 3lb 2 oz
galfer wave front rotor 2lb 11oz

stock rear rotor 1lb 11.75oz
pvm full floating wave rotor 1lb 2oz

I did it to mine and I like it. Ive got many compliments on how it looks, I got no compliments before I had it done.
And yah i could really tell a difference in the weight on the wheels after I had it done...NOT.
My 1/4 mile times are identical. If you can tell that much of a difference, and your taking the bike to its peak enough to notice you should probably be racing AMA.

I thought it would look better then the pic posted above. I guess just not enough other things polished/chrome. I wouldn't polish the frame, but put a few other polished things on the bike like a billit gas cap, billit rear sets, billit magneto cover, bar ends, etc.
here are pics of my 03. I just got my 06 silver gray a couple days ago. I am leaving it for a bike I can actually take on rides through the twisties. Probably just put a pipe on it and a few other little things. I am realy surprised by it performance stock. I thought about putting the chrome pvm y5's on it and getting the 05 wheels chromed and putting them on my 03. Who knows. I will probably just leave it.

reciprocating mass < horsepower

do u think your really going to be able to tell the difference???
rotating - reciprocating.. point is from a hanling perspective, you are still adding weight.. which yeah, if you ride hard, and are used to the way the bike handles i do think you will notice...we have a k2 that we changed wheels on and yes.. i did notice its handling changed

ok well im going to do it, i dont think it will be that much of a difference in handling, if it is oh well i was wrong ill get used to it. im also going to get a set of polished case covers.

thanks for the pics
It's not going to make a big difference in handling. Suzuki actually made the K5 wheel's lighter than the K4's (notice the difference in spoke thickness. Bottom line, it's your bike, do whatever you want with it.
