Torque you say? I love torque,I got some for ya right here. Its not a 1k or a metric cruiser either;)

Torque is where all the fun is on the street,or even cruising two-up with your spouse on back.:cheers
:drool how much boost were you running?

An R6 is by far the worst bike for the street.

On the track they are weapons; mine is an absolute missle. But on the street, not so much.

Neither - I like sports nakeds, preferable V-Twins and Supermotos for street use. More low-midrange torque, more comfortable seating position and you don't have to go twice the speed limit to have fun.

I have a KTM SuperDuke R 990 myself :biggrin Plenty of torque and WAY better suspension and brakes than any production bike out of Japan :D

been using a 1000cc Superhawk for 5 years for the street. Loved it, loved the torque, everything about it. Now I bought an L2 100, which is totally different but looking forward to riding it for street use. Think shifting less is going to be a bit boring but the top end will make up for it lol
600 is more then enough for street use, but I just went 1000 because im used to 1000cc, even though a 750 would rock me.

Love Ducati's - love the the styling and the handling. Just not sure about the fact every time one goes past it rattles - even a new one. I'm told all Ducatis are like that. Perhaps it's a sign of a good bike, not sure. Shame they rattle.

Still back to the topic. Some on here think the 600 is adequate for the street. Others find the effortless pull of the 1000 preferable. I must admit I'm quite tempted but am enjoying my 600 way too much at the moment to change. I would imagine streetfighters/supermotos are perhaps the best bikes for the roads, certainly urban. However I'm pretty addicted to the riding position of sports models. Thanks for input so far - it has been very useful.:cheers

It isn't just in the gearing, it is also in the mapping, the motor design, etc.

Yes - it can be "helped" with gearing, but keep in mind these are race bikes...and the R6 is designed for that purpose, moreso than the others (at the expense of being good on the street).
