,my $0.02 is personal preference...

I hate cruisers with a passion....

Some people want the look of a lowered bike...some people want the performance of a gp bike....

Respect their decision because its THEIR bike to begin with...let them do some trial and error and for them selves ultimately ruin the bike

wow you guy are so close minded, this whole arguement seems retarded to me
if someone wants to lower their bike or stretch it or what ever its their problem, thats why its THEIR bike and NOT yours right??
comments like these make me glad i dont ride with you asses, let people be.

It's because this site is about 90% kids with no other riding experience than their little 600's. If you're looking for acceleration, every little bit of energy your bike is using to lift the front is that much less energy being used to propel you forward.

Or because the majority of the active members on here are in fact pretty damn experienced riders and racers who value a well-handling bike instead of one "modded" to look like every other crippled "custom bike". There are other forums more suited for that crowd.

I see from your signature that you yourself enjoy a fat black one in the rear :biggrin

Actually, alot of us "kids" start everything with a drag race (of about 20+ people simultaneously). But then we have to brake/turn/accelerate repeat over and over and over again.

Do you equate "experience" to actual skillset or simply thousands and thousands of miles spent perfecting bad technique and form on a 2-wheeled station wagon on the street? Wanna bet I can get off the line and to turn 1 faster on my 600 (not even my 1000) than you can on your fat-one-in-the-rear?

I realize different people have different tastes in what they are going to do with their bikes and their money and I honestly don't care. But don't make assumptions like you did in your post up there because it just makes you sound silly.

Wow! You can outrun my cruiser on your 600. I would've never guessed that. As for putting a wide rear on sport bike, or stretching a 600/750, I completely agree with you guys. But the bottom line is there is a practical application for a longer wheelbase on a liter bike and it seems like the majority of this site refuses to acknowledge that. Yea the "kids" statement was probably a little harsh and uncalled for, but all the closemindedness on this site is frustrating and the younger crowd is usually where that attitude comes from.

dude, you are retarded. the only time a guy gets shit thrown at him for a lowering is when the bike isn't for the drag strip, or someone forgot to look in the forum heading before they posted. not a single drag racer here gets raked over coals for having a bike set up for maximum performance in his chosen field. the animosity towards stretch and slamming is directed toward the crowd that does it because they saw it in a rap video and think it looks cool. you cannot tell me that a 600 that is used on the street needs a lowering or a wider tire to improve anything but squidlyness and douchebaggery, nor have you tried to tell me, but there are some posters who will say such things.

as for the attitude coming from the younger crowd, no. i would bet 36 internets and a kitkat bar that most of the hostility comes from guys and gals in their 30s or more. i am one of them.

i fully support a guy's personal preference for his machine and money, but i will always try to convince a guy on a street bike to NOT lower his bike. this site supports legal and safe riding, full gear, and using a gixxer for what they are designed to do. stretching, slamming (i fucking hate that word), chroming, and tennis shoes remind most people here of a particular rider and we discourage that here. having lost friends and coworkers to an attitude that is contrary to GDC's culture, i enjoy it here immensely.

before anyone tries to tell me that just because a street bike is stretched, lowered, and chromed that doesn't mean that only douchebags ride those machines, i would do a youtube search and see what the crowds of "ruffrydaz" that block traffic tend to ride.

Show boat much?
Nice fence in the background.
Awww,you jealous much??

The fence hides the double-wide trailer that we live in,so I take offense that you are mocking it :(

I don't know why ppl bother anymore. I used to care too, but realistically it's your bike, do whatever you want, fuck what Internet ppl think of how you mod it. This place is a huge knowledge base. Use it as such.

It's your bike mod it, do what you want just don't go asking why you can't turn your bike in less then a 20 meter radius or make it up a driveway without bottoming out.
Here's your answer because you took a great handling machine and made it turn like a truck.
But it's your bike and do what you like or buy a truck!
