Have you seen the new Cycle World? Of course everybody knows about the limited edition R1 coming out with all the goodies, but now a kick ass 600. They are claiming 17,500 redline and 140HP. Even if that is crankshaft HP, it's going to be hella fast!!! I love the exhaust on the new R6 too!

haha ya 140hp - are these

what is the measurement of a HORSE POWER - i think a few of these people are using incorrect wattage for a HP in their measurements.

No, they calculate their "press release" horsepower with the mathematical maximum theoretical horsepower. Ignition pressure, piston surface areas..crank radius..torque..etc. There was no dyno that spit out a 140hp ticket for that bike. I say 129/crank, 117/118 rwhp.

Really bugs me how the bikes of previous years are instantly forgotten when the new model year comes around. I know it is the point to hype up the new bikes, because Yami, Suzi, Honda, and Kawi PAY these magazines to hype their shit, but it isn't cool to do that.

Now...17,500rpm..holy shit.

PS - Notice how it says the Special Edition R1 is 175-hp? I thought it was 180+ a year or so ago? The bike is unchanged for this year..hmmmm....

I wouldnt' even say that much. When the R1 came out brand new in 04 I think we all saw that they were claiming 180-hp. If real life it was doing about 30hp less than that.

I'll say the new R6 will make about 5 more hp than it did last year, give or take.
