I spray it down with just simple green out of the bottle. I use a rag to clean. I then hose the simple green off with a spray bottle of water.

I do the same for most of the gunked up areas of the bike. Behind the sprocket cover, the brake calipers, front of engine behind front wheel etc.

YOu have to rinse the simple green off aluminum especially.

then I re-lube

I also never let my chain get so dirty that a simple whipe down with a rag wont clean it.

Went to 3 different Lowe's yesterday and all they had was the new stuff.....damn.....

the teflon stuff is great for cleaning "." I buy it 4 or 5 cans at a time/
Use it for lube and you will wreck your drive train
It has zero shock load value, which it what your motorcycle drive train needs.
When I was naive about it I tried it on my bicycle and wrecked those sprockets too.
it just has no lube value even in a low torque environment but again is great to clean.
I made a video of my cleaning / lube routine that leaves zero mess but, I did it on my cousins Fireblade so its no good ( sides he did not have gold chain) till I redo one with a proper gixxer and gold chain.
