Hi all,

I have this strange issue with my 2010 GSXR 750. Basically I can only start the engine by putting into first gear and moving the bike forward till I hit resistance. Then hit the starter and clutch in. Once I am going there is no issue.

I feel like there is a sensor issue here. Neutral light is working, side stand and clutch switches are fine.

Any one had similar issues?

Have you check the starter & idle gear to make sure the teeth are lined up?

And what happens if you don't take up the slack pushing forward in first? Does pushing the starter buttong simply do nothing? Do the lights go out while pushing the button? Do you hear any strange noises or notice anything else?

Thanks for the feedback.

No FI light and there is no dimming indicated that the start it being fired. No strange noises at all. Everything is otherwise fine.

I may look at starter & idle gear as I haven't checked. Thanks for the heads up.

So, just to make sure I got this right: If you are in neutral or in first, but without pushing the bike then nothing happnes: no light dimming and no cranking. But if you're in first and push against engine compression, then hit the start button, then it does start and the lights do dim while it's cranking?

Small update on this issue which is now fixed.

All of my starting issues where due to my heated grip coming loose and not allowing my clutch lever to go all the way down to the bar where the electric cable comes in to heat the grip. Weird issue but extremely simple cause. Glued my grip back in place and now working fine.

Thanks for the advice.
