Valve in the exhaust - you can see the control wheel on the exhaust under the bike, two cables leading to it. The control servo is in the tail.

as i will go to change the k6/7 header, but the instruction said, not to remove the EXCVA servo...i dont know where is that. thx for kindly help, cheers...

 

The servo controls the valve, you can get to it under the seat. But if you dont need to mess with it then fine.

 

EXCVA stands for Exhaust Control Valve Actuator or commonly refered to as the SET valve Actuator. The actuator is under the fuel tank, right side, in back of (towards the back of the bike) the air box. The SET valve is in the exhaust just before the cat. See the sticky above if you want to remove it properly without getting an FI light.

 

i thought i just remove the #5 wire, it wont have FI light.

Anyone ever did a test taht what happens if you disconnect the servo motor? Yoshimura said don't do it, I did it and i didn't feel any difference. Dyno might prove me wrong.:scratch

 

i also read the yoshimura instruction said, dont unplug EXCVA servo.
i really dont know what to do and if i remove the whole EXCVA servo, the gas will gone so quick?? thx

 

My track day buddies running 08's pulled their servo motors and they are still clicking off hot lap times so it seems like it is OK.

 

Akrapovic provides a dummy plate as the full system gets rid of the set valve. I don't really see a difference on the track, but the low rpms are weaker. Then again I'm not sure if that was due to the exhaust, set valve or a combination of the two.

 

yes, the low rpms are weaker. therefore we need to replace the -1 front sproket. :cheers

does anyone know. I removed the black and brown wire and when i did that it wouldnt start. I removed the actuator and the light is still on. I was told the black connector, throttle side black and brown wire. It is still connected because it wouldnt start. I just say a thread were someone said grey connector. Hotbodies exhaust on k5 1000 and i cant get rid of the light. Does anyone know if the bike runs in safe mode for sure

 

I don't know about your K5 1K,but on our K8/K9 600/750s, you pull the black with white stripe (#5) wire from the black ECU connector (see post # 1 in the SET removal sticky thread). Did you try asking this question in the 1K forum?

You can always pull the servo wire#5 out and disconnect the servo motor connector but leave it in the bike, that's what i did....basically just in case i decide to put it back its easier left in there. I left all cables and hardware intact, the default servo mode is fully opened valve so i left it as is. Only real thing i notice is that the exhaust is a little louder after i disabled it.
