It would be interesting to find out more about the Yoshimura 'dry clutch kit'.
I have spoken to a Yoshimura employee for a number of years regarding ERO/XRO/Yoshimura SRAD parts and he never mentioned these clutch kits before.

Anyway, you can fit a dry clutch to your standard SRAD crankcases including using the standard crank.
You will need:
ERO Magnesium engine cover.
ERO gearbox complete with input and output shafts.
ERO primary gear. The pitch of the teeth on the ERO primary gear are the same as the teeth on a standard SRAD crank.
Complete clutch assembly, baskets and plates etc. There are lots of little parts (bearings, spacers thust washers etc) in the clutch which are hard to find and not the same as standard E33 SRAD parts.
I know all of this first hand as I went through this process over a number of years before I actually found all of the clutch parts and finally had the engine built.
This.

It isnt a Yosh kit. Yosh never made their own dry clutch. More like left over ERO parts that were put together and sold.
Most people in the US call this stuff Yosh, as they are the source for all the ERO parts.

I have decided to go away from the XRO engine idea and the dry clutch. Sounds like a nightmare. I am going to concentrate on setting up the bike with Suspension and I think with the parts I have I can build a really reliable motor with lots of go. I have the Kit ECU Loom/Harness tacho and coils. I had a chat with my Engine builder and we are going to get short motor and build up an intermediate motor using a set of kit barrels the Yoshimura head, cams and pistons with ti rods. I will prob go for a slipper clutch which I can get for a reasonable price.
many thanks for everyone's advise pity I bought the cases. I guess I wish I had been told they were scrap. Don't quite know why they were sold in the first place. So if anyone wants a set of Scrap cases I have a set.

send them to the uk for my srap collection, please.

sorry to here the dry clutch, problems,as iv said it ia a mine field of parts, and please if any one is buying xro parts please drop me a pm and ill see if they are ok to use,as i know most of the stuff around the uk,and Europe.dont want to see people throwing money away on scrap, the speedy eye knows were most of the stuff has gone or is and wot it is ,good...scrap....one offs....pulled out of the skip... liberated.....or just mid service life...
if you need any help with set up i can get you suspension parts, not mine they belong to some one else.
better of getting the handling right and spending some time and cash on this direction,46mm superbike forks are a must, brembo sbk disks and calipers also.seat ride height is also a point to play with,as the srad is a tad tight on the body Poisson and yuo can get your body set up right for corner exit well with seat height adjustment.

hope this helps..

Mam thats a better idea, The XRO engine is a thing to behold but the cost and finding the stuff is ner on impossible.
Ive been sorcing parts from Sie + Senndiott for a while now and both are my only contacts this side of the pond that are not in for $ÂŁ$ÂŁ but for the love of the machine.
Hope you post a thread on your engine build. Cheers for posting your threads makes good reading.:cheers

can get you a ohlins linner linkage and bones,or a factory xro linkage and bones to your spec,as in one you give me the info on and ill see if there is one to match.
forks, well i know to a set of ohlins fg 46mm forks,a works swing arm like mine, and a few other suspension bits.

agine chaps not mine im not selling them,if this a bad post please remove.

all the parts iv sold to people and for people over the years have all be usable parts,iv see quite a few parts that are scrap sold on as good usable parts, yes iv sold parts that are not compleat and need bits making for them, but iv never sold an xro or ero parts that is not any use,or scrap.
the mind field of kit, harris ,ero, xro and all the other srad factory part prefix numbers is also a mind field, and i never sell on parts that are not wot a they are,the amount of factory xro parts i see that are ero, yoshey, harris, or one offs that are made by some one is unreal, and as you all know i speek my mind on these parts and warn you all,may be not on this forum that much, but on others i do.
please be carefull when you spend your money on parts that well are no good for your project,it winds me up and i have bought parts that are no good, and i should know better.
i have been in touch with these xro ,ero parts for some year now and have spent bloody years getting info on them,so i am no expert by a long shot, but i am here to help.

It blows to buy parts that someone leads you to believe are 100%, just to receive something else - I think we've all been burned at one stage or another, that's why I'll only deal with people I (think...) I can trust, and have a rep to uphold.
The cases may make a great enema for the douche bag that sold them to you; failing that a glass coffee table stand (My uncle has a 351 block with the rods welded in place & the glass for the coffee table sits on top of the pistons, everything is polished and it looks pretty good), that sounds that it's all your magnesium block is good for. I feel for you man.
As mentioned above, share the engine build in a thread.
Cheers, Ad

@speedy sie

hey you are helping Ralf Punzet to sell his bike and parts?

nice!:biggrin

yes this is me....i have just been on the phone to the chap who bought the engine,it is at HARRIS now waiting for a dyno run......the engine will now sit in a frame made to xro spec, xro copy seat frame...running ohlins super bike forks...Ralf's swing arm ...wraped in xro copy super bike fairings.....yumm,yummmm...being raced in the golden era next year,by a ridder who raced ...a....franco chille...and almost beet him...and if you know Ralf, than tell him the YART swing arms are coming on well, both of them.

and this is the ero price list, you should see the xro parts list...all times at least 2....and just see this is the 1996 lisy,so later 98/99 parts will be even dearer...the xro 9 engine was near ÂŁ100,000 back in 2000!!!

Hmm,, curious.
I'm just wondering how the crank cases are scrap ?
Are they cracked ? distorted ? are the brg bores ok ? stripped threads ?
Just curious thats all as I know Daz quite well and he has allways been mega straight and decent with me.
Also the 5 letters on the rear of the crankcase, ABABB etc,, I know that on std srad engines they refer to the sizing of the main brg line bore per journal.
I think its quite a nice touch that they then stamped the ratio's on there instead on the race engines..
It would certainly be a recipie for confusion if you were to read the ratio letters and then refer them to main brg size and then had a sloppy or tight engine... oooh..
Skel..

the casings were scrap, rear out put bearing surface was distorted,as in oval, this is why the casings had a 4,500kl life.(this is wot i was told)...and most end of life had this problem, just goes to show how hard the chaps ran the bike!!
the boars are more than likely the same, end of life,i think they were 2,000kl
as posted before most if not all the engine parts are end of life, just look at the prices of the ero parts the xro parts are even more!!...so the life of these parts was well used,by the team, then by the people who raced the srad as the priverers my bike as in the preformance house bike was raced on ex harris/crescent old end of life parts, then after they had finished with them they then went on to the national bikes/club bikes/track bikes/road bikes...the list goes on,so ex factory parts that have no history are well ....suspect,the other factory parts with the history are also of no use as they have the history, but are mostly end of life.
i have seen no end of factory parts of the xro 750's the zx7rr,the 750 yams, the corsa 's and even with them its the same old story..this is why next year you will see the old 750's in action in the golden era,but will you........in the true state of tune!!...no as the engine refresh parts are just to few,as in good NOS parts....xro engine....has a life span of 700kl......yep you read right 700kl,then the refresh on the top end.xro9 head...well near ÂŁ20,000....

the letters at the rear are in fact the gear sets.
