i think if there's no obvious signs of major dry-rot there's not enough pressure in there to blow it completely out. More likely would start to leak, or even before that allow air in without leaking at all. It's the only explanation I can come up with for what happened when replacing mine once. I just kept bleeding and tightening over the course of weeks, but after a few days there would be air again:dunno. After changing the line I bleed it once and it was done. There is a small chance it could have been the bleeder screw.....I changed that too, but I don't think so.

gooday pete ,brake hoses run around 1500psi from memory ,clutch hose probably only a couple of hundred,so if its not cracked, kinked perished,it should last another 20 :burnout

I replaced mine with a s/s braided line at the same time as doing the brake lines. I figured after 20 years, it was cheap insurance, and really cheap to do since I was buying them all at the same time. Yours in the pic looks like it's almost brand new.

If I Had A Hydro Clutch I Would Change To Braided As A Precaution Anyway.cheap Insurance And They Look Really Cool Too.

Working from memory here but .... I think my manual says to replace brake and clutch hoses every 5 years..... may have been my Honda manual ?
