Well if you want to give it a looking over, you're welcome to do so. I've been doing my own inspections as I go along and haven't found anything amiss myself other than the SET valve being misadjusted throwing a code (but no ride-ability issues from it) so I just removed the SET valve and boxed it up (so I can put it back on if I ever need to, like to sell it, or if emissions come to this area).

The bike idles rock solid and feels great so I'm thinking the throttle plates are fine but when I check the air filter (going to do so soon) I will go ahead and check the throttle plate synchronization. I'll probably do all of this after installing the new Akrapovic shorty - if it pops too much on decel for my liking I'll do the PING block, rofl.

is it normal for the secondary butterflys to be rotated over and over again?

i can rotate them 360 degrees clockwise but not counter clock wise?

That's not good... the butterflies will rotate if the stva unit is removed... take some pictures of the right side of your bike. If its still intact I'd send it to the geek...

You're probably getting hung up on the high idle cam follower. Follow the shaft to the other side of the bike and watch the cam as you try to turn it.

I just fixed my issue with the stva and used The_Geek's ebay service, it was a quick turnaround and a perfect solution to my problem.

You're probably getting hung up on the high idle cam follower. Follow the shaft to the other side of the bike and watch the cam as you try to turn it.

Is his stva unit in place or even functional? Wouldn't you break or strip the gears if you did that?

I don't disagree that's how its hanging up... but they shouldn't rotate more than 90deg if the stva unit is merely bolted on...

The STVA would have to be removed. There's not enough room in the housing for the final gear to rotate fully. For that to happen, the center of that gear would have to be busted out. That gear is pretty tough. For it to be broken, something extraordinary happened.

Just did that to my wife's SV650 about a month ago.

My only issue is finding a way to support the front where it's not on the forks to lower the front (her front stand is a fork stand). I'm thinking a block of wood on my hydraulic jack under the headers after taking the plastics off, but I'll need to see what looks strong under there.

Would I be able to use a pin stand (like the Pitbull new front stand to slide the fork tubes on the front to lower the bike)?

The STVA is already off and in route to TheGeeks house, i was just manually rotating the butterflys to check if they are damaged and noticed that they rotate freely and the idle increase when i open then fully..

Can't use the pitbull as the tree's need to sit lower to drop the front end. The pitbull with keep the tree's stationed at the stand's height. Easiest way to do it is like you mentioned, piece of wood under the headers and jack the bike. You can then loosen off the top and bottom tripple clamps and slowly let the jack down to drop to your desired height.

If you have an extra set of hands and what I have done in a hurry for customers is to just do it with the bike on the side stand. You can do one side at a time without any problems as it will only drop a few mill. Have the extra set of hands just to pull upwards on the bars so you can set it at your desired height.

Yes, the tree lift (pin style) stands will work. In all honesty though, it can be done without ever lifting the front. Just do one side at a time and have your wife pull up on the bars to help keep it from going too far on one leg.

Listen to me very carefully. If you're just going to shift the tubes for lowering you can cause a very deadly scenario. Before you move anything, look up the fork stroke for that bike, then measure the distance between the fender/tire and the hard parts directly above it. Last think you'd want your wife to do is cause the front to make contact and throw her over the bars.

I did this for her rear. Works like a charm if you need to suspend the front too. Get a couple 3" eye screws and put them in the header above the garage door. A couple ratchet straps and you've got a very pathetic, yet very functional, overhead lift.

Okay first off, let me give a HUGE thank you to thegeek

Sent my STVA out and got the thing back super fast.. slapped it on the bike and it worked like a charm! No more codes!

Also while i was in there i installed my Power Commander since i wasnt about to pay a shop 160 bucks to do it.... they said it is about 2 hours worth of work but it took me all of 10 mintutes....

SO thank you thegeek i cant wait to take her for a spin!

There's lots of room above the fender/tire - if she were to somehow bottom that out she would already be over the bars (due to whatever bottomed out the suspension).

I will give it a look though, I do seem to remember there being a LOT of room in there and I lowered the front forks 1".
