Any chance you can tell me the size?

I think it's 53mm but I can't be sure. Found a guy on the 'bay that is doing db killers that might get the M4 down to 97db and easier to source in the UK....

I ordered one from M4, but after some conversation I got the info that it's not supported to fit in the old-style GP exhaust that has a bolt holding the insert, only snap-ring mounting (new style). Fortunately the order could be stopped in the last second. I googled some more on universal db-killers and found one on a Swedish webshop. I called them and was welcome to come over and try it in my exhaust directly. And guess what! It fits perfectly, like if it was made specifically for M4 GP exhaust (old style with bolt) :biggrin

It doesn't make the bike quiet in any way, but it takes away the most annoying noise and softens everything a little bit. VERY nice result i think, earlier I couldn't go without ear plugs - today I drove about 100 kilometres without getting tired and headache! And my neighbours love me even more now :)

I recommend this one:

EDIT: Since the site is only in Swedish send an e-mail lars@mc-online.se for ordering this db-killer, mention that it's for Suzuki GSX-R M4 GP Exhaust, universal DB-killer.
I'm just wondering - what is classed as the "old style" of the M4 GP?

I have a K6 GSX-R1000 - I've never seen an M4 GP on one so I don't know if it uses the bolt or snap ring. Can anyone help?

edit>> Just heard back from MotoMummy - if the exhaust is from two years ago it'll be the older one with the bolt (so that would be the one for my K6), a newer one from a year or so ago will be fine with the M4 Stage 2 insert. Good info. Now to order from Sweden!

IF you have the snap ring holding in the baffle then you're good to go with the m4 insert. If you have the old style that has a bolt holding in the baffle then you can't use the M4 insert. They changed the exhaust a year or two ago. So if you bought it recently you're good to go.

Just an update for anyone else with a K6 who wants or has the M4 GP exhaust - I got mine not too long ago and it does actually have the snap ring/circlip. So you can use the M4 Stage 2 baffle on the K6.

tbm311, the quiet baffle won't be a straight fit in your exhaust since you don't have the snap ring. Check page 1 on this thread, some photos there show what the snap ring looks like.

However having said that... I thought I wouldn't have the snap ring, but I went ahead and ordered the M4 quiet baffle anyway. As someone advised me... judicious use of a drill will make anything accept a bolt... :biggrin
Check if you have a bolt on the other side of the exhaust, maybe your baffle isn't removable. In which case the only other thing I can think of would be to find a good exhaust shop - I am guessing that they should be able to weld in a collar to the inside of your exhaust, which would enable you to use the snap ring and quiet baffle. I don't know - just thinking out loud here. :dunno

I know this is a super old post, but does anyone know by this picture if I can put the stage 2 silencer in this?

I'm about to change the exhaust all together, its crazy loud and obnoxious. its a full exhaust not just a slip on which probably makes it worse

Thanks.

I used the quiet baffle for a while until I had my bike on the dyno... that baffle is so restrictive it's a joke. It cut a stack of Hp off my 1000. Seriously, blue line is with the quiet baffle. Red line with the standard baffle after the dyno tune.

Use it if you have to, but it's gonna cut the balls off your bike. I wouldn't say that the M4 GP is cop bait either. I have had zero problems with my exhaust on the street. Riding like a dick head is the real cop bait.

got it installed today!! woot.. wow what a HUGE difference it makes, I'll still wear plugs on the highway but during normal city cruising its no longer needed.
I'm sure I lost some power, but really how much exactly? cannot read that graph it looks like 20hp, but I don't see how thats possible.

IMO it even sounds better under load WOT, sounds like it should, one day I'll change this exhaust but for now it works.

I have it on my bike currently and I can tell it is quite restrictive, but isn't some back pressure needed? My bike has a de-cat so that's why I installed it in the first place.

I had the same result. I was using a different brand, not m4. It was a Coffman shorty with a baffle in it. I also lost 20 HP from my Yosh slip on. My k4 750 likes a longer exhaust, and the back pressure. Runs much stronger with the Yosh back on.

Im confused,You said your Yoshi also caused issues but it runs better with it on?

Does anyone have any dyno sheets to prove these "20hp" losses?
