Talk about needle in a haystack. Ur back might be on vacation, but ur eyes are still good @oldgixxer

It is perplexing, a full set of k6 plastics on a k5 frame doesn't sound like a cheap swap. Maybe the k5 had rash and he bought a k6 parts bike with a blown motor and swapped em?

Are there differences Inside the plastics? Frame variations, bolt hole placement, stuff like that OG? 05/05 sounds about 5/6 months early for a model year change

I see your point, but don't know why it has a slight difference really- my bike I mean

And how did you notice that anyways? One of the Gixr Gods i guess
Those are definitely K6 plastics. The K5 should have a grey graphic sticker on each side of the tail section. The K6 has the same graphic on the tail, except it's dark blue.

By no means a big deal, bike is mint regardless. I was just curious as I noticed it when you posted those most recent pics above.;)
@BillV is the K5/6 King, maybe he will pop in and offer his insight?

@Todd_Sails - is the 10th character of your VIN a 5 or 6? OG might have to switch the title of your thread back :lol
The 10th character on the VIN is:................ a 5!
Matches the title too.

Yup,K6 plastics on a K5. I kinda like the K6 graphics a bit better myself

The black "triangle" on the side cowling below the tank and next to the frame rail is the easiest way to tell K5 from K6 graphics. Beyond that, K6 uses a thin light blue accent stripe in several locations. You can see it running around the outer edge of the "triangle" as well as outlining the outer edge of the black graphic forward and above the "R". It's somewhat hard to tell but Todd's tank graphic also seems to be K6 as I think I see a light blue accent along its bottom edge. The light blue accent is also present on the K6 front cowling and, as I recall, on the tail graphic (again think I see it on Todd's).

As I recall, the clear on the tank is applied over the graphic. So changing things to match the OEM standard is a big deal.

It's unusual for the change to be so completely done. Make's me wonder why.

I agree BillV,had me shaking my head trying to figure out if it was a simple fairing/tank swap or was a bit more involved than that.

Yes with the light blue highlighting, here's my tail section close up left side:

I'll have to ask the seller if he knows anything about this

Here's a K6 front cowl. I think the light blue stripe is metallic silver in K5.

Changing all the affected decals is going to cost around $400 plus the issue of re-clearing the tank. Changing the plastics and tank will be much more.

Makes me wonder too. What a trip!

I texted the seller (3rd owner), he states that he trhinks he remembers something about the 2nd owner stating he got the bike that way from the first owner- but doesnt remember anything specific.
He'll ask him again, the last 2 owners live within 30 mi of me.

The bike itself has NO evidence whatsoever of a crash, or major crash anywhere on it.
It does have the frame sliders, and it does has some scuff on the very bottom of the left side cover like it fell over once, but no where else on the bike does it have any scratches.

I seem to have some type of Liter Bike Anomaly?
