Well, let me try to keep this quick... I've done tons of searching but nobody quite has my scenario.

Popped a wheelie, a really big one, a really, really big one. My bike ran off without me on it, smashed the rear subframe and plastics off then dropped on the left side where the brunt of the damage went to bending the steering a bit (adjustable, so I can fix that) and directly to the stator. Smashed the stator cover to pieces, oil went everywhere. I installed a brand new stator cover, the bike's starter works, idk if the stator works still because the bike won't stay on.

The oil light is flashing, so I changed the oil and filter. It's full. Still doesn't work. The bike has started a couple times but shuts off for no apparent reason with that oil light still on. I even got it in gear and rode it real slow for like 20 seconds, that was the longest it stayed on. Mostly turns over then shuts off in seconds now. Checked the oil pressure sensor, don't have a multimeter, but when I disconnected it the bike registered that it was disconnected and when I reconnected it the display registered it was connected. So it seems to be in working order. Could my oil pump be damaged internally? I can't even check oil pressure really because like i said, can't get it to run for even a couple seconds usually. There is a funny clicking sound coming from the rear, SET valve I guess, but i did all the research on that and that shouldn't cause this issue.

Please help! :)

Sorry, this post turned out longer than I thought... wanted to make sure I was clear up front :) And pics! Cuz everyone likes them :)

Bike on side+broken stator cover+oil running out onto ground+engine running=toasted motor.
Thats why you have no oil pressure and the light is on,and why it wont stay running.

Poor bike.

What?

Plastics were repainted from a crash. Then the left side plastics are gone... from another crash. And this crash. I notice the open header and the fact that it's being 'serviced' with a little toy crescent wrench by a guy who's trying to run it while it's standing in a pool of its own blood. :crying

We have your plate number. It's our obligation to report you to the Charleston SPCB.

Are you fucking retarded or can you just not read, in his first paragraph it states that he installed a new cover and new oil and a new filter. He never once said he tried to start it after the crash. Read for fucks sakes.

What are you going to report him for? for all you know he was in his own driveway or private property. Get the fuck out of here.

To the OP it seems like you have an issue with the wiring or your Tip over Sensor, I noticed its just hanging off the back. try and put it in the "UP" position, its marked on the rubber boot that holds it to the plastic.

I see shit like this all the time, just because a bike was crashed doesn't mean the motor is toast. if you've never seen it happen in person normally the tip over sensor in combination with the oil level sensor as well as the temp sensor will shut a bike down. If it starts it is more than likely not junk. he just fucked some shit up. just needs the right sets of eyes and hands and it'll be back up and running.

I'll check the TO sensor when I get home, but I feel like that wouldn't cause the oil light. I feel like the engine isn't toasted as it did start up and run for about 20 seconds with no performance loss or strange sounds, even got it into second then it just shut off. The bike only ran for less than 10 seconds after it dropped as I was up and running to it pretty quick. I did a full oil change. Other suggestions I'm seeing is stuff could be clogging the oil pump?

I've got other wrenches... And the forks are all good and the bike rides straight, the handle bars and alignment can all be adjusted, so that's not an issue.

I prefer "mentally-deficient" and yes, I can read very well, thanks. I believe you 'murkins have the SPCA just like us, up here in canaduh. Most will recognize that acronym and immediatley make the connection....prevention of cruelty to Bikes.

So the 'threat' that got your panties in such a twist wasn't about shenanigans on public roads, it was a humorous jab, playing-along with the other remarks about 'that poor bike'.

Even before OP's get-off, it has not had an easy life to date.

Thank you! Le Skid was not helpful... Sounds like I have a few more things to check into, I'll post back when I get an opportunity to check it out.
No, I wasn't intending to be. Just poking a little fun. Glad to see you have a bit thicker skin than some.

If I DID want to try to be helpful, would maybe temporarily rigging-up a 12-bar be a good option while there's currently very little tail left? At least you could get-in some more practice before investing in new plastics and without having to mod any of those new expensive plastics? At least make the best out of a bad situation....

I'm no authority though. I only practiced wheelies in the 80s and thankfully, never went-over (dirt bikes and 3-wheelers notwithstanding).

Good luck.

Thank you to all those with helpful suggestions. Sorry haters / unbelievers / snobs. It's working again. It was indeed the Tip Over Sensor. I put it upright and it cranked instantly and sounds perfectly normal again. Thank you so much all of you who helped. This saved me a world of pain. Now just gotta get a rear subframe, plastics, new lights, and align the handlebars... But it runs!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D Kind of just did a happy ritual dance while laughing in circles around my roaring bike... Imagine Tom Hanks in Castaway when he made a fire... and multiply the excitement by 2.

You forgot to add "stop riding on public streets like an idiot" to that list...
