Hmmph, Moto mummy is out of stock on the pads, I think the last 3 times I've ordered from them the don't have in stock at least one if the items I'm ordering.
I have so much to say about this, but I won't. :rolleyes

I got mine from the Parts Club.

They never had anything in stock for my GSXR. :dunno
If you need a chain kit or a set of grips they have a warehouse full of those.
I guess more model specific things like exhausts, rear sets and replacement parts, and stomp grips are not in stock or in high demand.
Your bike was a decade old. Almost nobody will have shit in stock for it.

And even newer bikes it is impossible to have every part for every bike for the last ten years in stock.

So far I have found one place local that can do the suit, I am gonna continue to look for more options. She knew exactly what it was and she was the one that mentioned safety and quality, that was kind of reassuring.

Told me about $500 and a month to do because it is their busy season. I am gonna try to get the price down a little bit as well as shorten up the time with this first place.

Maybe prices would come down a little if I tell her more people might be interested in alterations and repairs (Jay). I am gonna throw my RC-1 jacket in the truck too to see if any places can fix the stretchy panel on the sleeves.
Not if she needs a month. But then again, Lizzy may not be much better at this point. Let me reach out to her and see how her work load is

We should all chip in. It'll pay for itself in no time.

The 95 are actually a more street pad. The 07is a bit more aggressive but not overly so.
Thanks for reminding me i still have more money to spend :biggrin

I found another place, pretty much the same price, but this is the place I will be taking my suit. It's in Morristown. Guy says he has done motorcycle suits before, they do cleaning and alterations.

http://www.ragobrothers.com/index.html

Place was full of leather EVERYTHING, boots, gloves purses, shoes jackets.......

He gave me a price of about $500 as well.

More expensive than Lizzy, but I personally would rather deal local. This guy wants me to bring the suit back along with my boots and gloves and will measure me on the spot. He said he can also repair the stretchy stuff on my RC-1 jacket but has to look at it to see the price. He didn't give me a time frame, but every customer that was around me was being told 2-3 days, so if it would atke a week to do my alterations, I am OK with that. The place was packed with people, which to me looks like a good sign.

He told me that since he quoted me $500 he will NEVER go above that price, even if he has to lose money on the deal. If it is less, he will charge less, but not more. I would probably be looking at about 350-400 to have Lizzy do what I need done.

Jay, if you want me to bring your suit to him next time I go up there just let me know. I could get a price and either leave it there with mine or take it back depending on what you decide.

Pull out all the armor and fold it all in on itself, you'd be surprised how small of a box you can fit it in.

I was searching around to see how the front quick change kit works. I was curious how the front wheel comes on and off without removing the calipers. Found a couple of videos, some interesting stuff in here...

The way mine has to be shortened the armor needs to be in the suit, it will be kind of close to the armor so I would have to make sure it will be right when the armor is in.

Admittedly, I am basing this off of pictures i saw a few years ago so it could be different now, but they don't work out of a 2-story, almost Walmart sized warehouse like STG does (for example). They stock some things, but often when you place an order, they turn around and order it from the vendor. If it says "in stock", it often means "the vendor has them in stock".

When STG says "in stock", they mean as in, "ill be right back, let me go grab one from the warehouse and ship it to you" in stock. When i was up there hanging with Van for a couple of days we went to the store/warehouse and i couldnt believe how big it was. Rows and rows of tires stacked to the top of a 30' ceiling in 1 warehouse (climate controlled, everything is in the same building as the offices, it is just divided up into different sections), rows and rows of suits as far as you can see in another section, literally thousands of helmets etc. It was pretty damn impressive.

It just all depends on how much storage room you have, how much "risk" you are willing to take by actually keeping damn near everything "in stock", how much money you want to spend upfront just to save the customers a little time in processing/shipping etc.

Even STG doesnt stock EVERYTHING. I mean, that would be physically impossible. Some stuff (like my current suit) is special ordered from Italy. They can't stock a ton of those. If you call and want an exhaust for your 1982 CBR, they likely won't have one on hand. And sometimes stuff is on backorder from the vendor and they run out. But typically speaking, they stock just about everything they sell.

I am not knocking MM one bit. What they do obviously works because they have a lot of satisfied customers (and I personally think Corey is a good dude). I am just saying that not all "in stock" definitions are the same. :)

Yeah, I have NO idea what it would cost to ship a suit. What did it cost you?
Take the knee pucks off (to save weight and space), also remove the inner liner and any pads that can come out (if you want to go through that much trouble, i usually dont).

Then put the chest part in the bottom of the box first, so it can lay flat. Then fold the arms and legs in. You can smash it down pretty good and get a suit to fit in a box that isn't too big.

Even with leaving all of my pads in, it typically costs about $15-$20 to ship it (Lora just sent mine off for cleaning a few days ago).
