I put a thread on not long ago saying my oil filter keeps coming loose and all the oil blew out as i was riding. The filter i put on was an MF filter and that blew off. The garage i took it to replaced the filter with a new one and 5 mile later that started leaking oil from the seal pretty bad so i came back on here to ask if anyone knew why this was happening and you guys said get a genuine suzuki filter, so i did, i then took it to the garage for him to drop the oil, replace the filter and then top it back up. It went fine for about 30 miles and then today i started it up at my girlfriends house and rode it about 40yards and noticed that it didnt sound right so i turned it off and noticed the huge trail of oil AGAIN! I felt like kicking the fuking bike over and leaving it there!! I looked at the filter through the fairing and could see that the O ring had blew out of the side, like the pressure had pushed it out at one side? Could the bike have to much pressure?? the oil level was fine. Its not a double O ring i made sure of that 2 filters ago! It only does it when the bike is cold and i start it. Does anyone have a clue what is happening???

hate to ask the obvious question but are you putting the filter on tight enough? i do the oil changes on my buddys k6 600 and i use a k&n filter, never any issuse
are you completely sure the bike is using the right filter? can you give us the filter make and the part number so we can look at it?
we checked the contact surface and the thread every time, the 3 filters ive tried screwed on absolutely perfectly??
Check to see if a fragment of a remaining seal is baked onto the block. That will definitely cause a leak. Sometimes they tear without you perhaps noticing. Usually a result of someone not lubricating the seal and over tightening the filter. Or perhaps from the filter being on for a long time. Those combinations.
if you are positive the threads and mating surfaces are good, once you have it torqued down properly how about safety wiring it?
Coming from experience with owning a S2000 that sometimes has a tendancy to 'unwind' it's oil filters it's a real pain in the ass and stops you from enjoying the vehicle without worry!!
Basically I found it was down to faulty filters (even tho new stock OEM Honda stuff) and with the new one it cleared the issue. However many people have similar problems and even J's Racing has a ludicrously priced oil filter securing kit ($160) which is basically a piece of metal bolted to the frame that has a ratchet type securing ring around the filter itself... This is obviously a last resort BUT if the threads are fine, contact surface on the block is fine, you lube the filter o-ring and tighten it enough then it could just be engine resonance or something...

you stated that the "O" ring looks pushed out on one side??
This might be caused by the the pressure relief valve not opening when the oil is cold??
get the oil pressure checked. not sure where the relief valve in on yer skooter, prolly right off the discharge of the oil pump inside the sump??

I rode my gixxer to work this morning, everything was fine. At lunch I was gonna head out and get something to eat. I started her up and within about 3 seconds she started spilling oil. ALL the oil. I had to have the bike picked up by a local shop here in London Ontario. I just got off the phone with them and they said that the oil had spilled out from the oil filter. I believe he said it had bent the gasket. They put a new K&N oil filter on and filled her up with Motul. They started the bike and it happened again. Bent the gasket at the oil filter and the oil started flying out. Obviously there is good pressure so it aint the pump but they believe its the release valve.
Alright so one day i started my bike randomly just to hear my devil exhaust, gave it a couple of revs and oil started leaking out of the filter, the gasket on the filter popped out. Ok so it was about time to change the oil, so i buy a new filter, oil. Changed the oil tighten the filter hand tight. Started the bike no problem, revved it no problem, turn it off then the next day i start it again revved it oil leaks again from the oil filter gasket popping out. This happens 1 more time same situation. The gasket keeps popping off.
i went to start it and it didnt want to, but when it did all the oil came pouring out around the filter. so long story longer, I put it back inside let it warm up and the next day I changed the oil and filter and it did the same thing. Something somewhere is clogged to where it wont pump oil back into the engine, it shoots it all back into the filter causing the rubber gasket to blow out of its groove and shoots oil all over my garage
It sounds to me that it may be a stuck oil relief valve, or my crankcase vent is kinked or blocked? i hope that its not a big job!!

i have a 2005 gsxr 600 had the same problem 3 times am now replacing the oil pressure valve in sump and should sort the problem.will be back with update
