GO FIGURE!!!!!
The 3 year warranty ran out about 2 months 2days ago and I never even used it. Now my bike is making an unpleasant whining sound when I rev it up. If I had to guess it sounds like a worn out water pump. It sounds alittle like a supercharger winding up.
I'm just not happy about this.
07 GSXR 600
21,000 miles
Sync oil
I've owned it since day 1 and taken very good care of it.
What I've come up with so far.
RPM dependent
The slightest rev and you can hear it
If I pull in the clutch it doesn't change the sound.
In gear, out of gear makes no difference.
Based on what I know so far I'm thinking it's not in the transmission because you would think it'd change alittle with the different variables stated above.
Well now I'm in the middle of surgery on the bike.
Using the old screw driver in the ear trick the noise is central to the generator area on the left side of the bike. At first I thought is was the starter but with the screwdriver placed on the generator cover you can clearly hear the whining amplified.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be making the noise behind this cover? Does oil circulate through this area?
