GO FIGURE!!!!!
The 3 year warranty ran out about 2 months 2days ago and I never even used it. Now my bike is making an unpleasant whining sound when I rev it up. If I had to guess it sounds like a worn out water pump. It sounds alittle like a supercharger winding up.

I'm just not happy about this.
07 GSXR 600
21,000 miles
Sync oil
I've owned it since day 1 and taken very good care of it.

What I've come up with so far.
RPM dependent
The slightest rev and you can hear it
If I pull in the clutch it doesn't change the sound.
In gear, out of gear makes no difference.

Based on what I know so far I'm thinking it's not in the transmission because you would think it'd change alittle with the different variables stated above.

Well now I'm in the middle of surgery on the bike.

Using the old screw driver in the ear trick the noise is central to the generator area on the left side of the bike. At first I thought is was the starter but with the screwdriver placed on the generator cover you can clearly hear the whining amplified.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be making the noise behind this cover? Does oil circulate through this area?

HHEEEEELLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

I'd pop the stator cover off first and check behind it. Yes, there is oil there but if you lean the bike the other way - for example against a wall - there won't be much leaking out. I've seen a bolt on a rotor back out once, scraping against the stator - that made a sound like you describe :dunno It may or may not be that but you'll have to open and check :dunno

Doesn't it hurt when you stick a screwdriver in your ear? Philips or straight? I would think it would be hard to hear after you do that.

:lmao :lmao :lmao

your posts always give me a good laugh
Can you believe some people think I'm a real asshole! Go figure, me & Rodney, we get no respect. :lol

CCT? Or maybe cam chain guide? 21,000 miles is about the time they start wearing out.

It's crazy I figured this all out by hearing alittle whining from the motor.

OK where do i get a new Stator from???????????

Hey Body80

Did the stator end up fixing the noise ?
I have the same symtoms as you are experiencing, my noise is beteen 1000 and 3000 then the exhaust sound takes over and don't hear it unless Im at 6000 RPM riding but the noise is really not noticeable. :dunno

Thanks !!!
