Galespeed is cheaper than Marchensini. thats why im so curious which one has good quality...

Me too. I read this from the motomummy web site:

These are our number 1 choice in rims due to price and quality.
I'm not sure if that's because they are equal or greater quality, or simply almost as good and cheaper.

A lot of the price has to do with who imports them. Galespeeds are imported by an importer that is MUCH larger then any of the other importers who import the other brands. By much i'm saying 10-100 times larger. More bulk=better prices.

It also depends on the currency exchange and customs and things from europe are very very spendy right now. Doesn't have to do with quality, but with logistics. You can't judge everything based on price. For instance most thing that overseas products are so much better then american made as they cost more. Put 20% customs duties and 30 dollars for shipping over the ocean off sato's and they are down to vortex pricing nearly. importing stuff isn't cheap at all.

galespeed are japan i believe. We actually are going to start s tocking them :) waiting to get them in at this time. marchesini is italy i believe, but i knwo it's in europe and that's where the dollar has taken the biggest hit the last year or so.

just so you know these rims are not for road use. just making sure its a track bike.

these will get damaged rideing on the road, due to the unsmooth roads.

before somone starts with the flame do some research or ask some racers

pretty much all aftermarket wheels from the top manufactures are stronger than stock wheels hands down.

I have forged magnesium Marvics on my 1k and have several thousand miles on them on the street.

if your in the habit of driving into deep pot holes your gonna mess up any wheel you have on your bike whether it be stock or aftermarket, go around the pot hole you wont mess anything up :biggrin

Well, here's an article that I think everyone interested in improving their bike's overall performance should read, regardless of the wheel/mod they want. Extremely informative. Pay especial attention to the little side note stating the weight of the each wheel from some different manufacturers.
Having said that, I'd go with BSTs! :punk

***It's a bit on the heavy side for those running a slow connection.

Well since I'm bored...I guess I'll revive this thread. I notice the last post was about BST CF wheels. You might want a set of these, until you see that a handful of them have failed. BTW if you want you could try Dymag CF(never heard of a set failing).

These were a consideration at one time, for me. But I went with Marchesini Magnesiums. Never had any problems. And considering my Busa is heavier & has more hp. And I've seen turbo dragbikes run these with no issues. Road use is just fine. Both MPD & SPL are correct(common sense on the roads & you'll be fine). I have no experience with Galespeed. But I'm considering Marchesini or Marvic for my 600...

BTW I forgot to mention: I lost around 16-17#'s vs. stock wheels.

To be honest I've seen similar stuff on stock wheels! It all depends on what caused that... If a someone hits a major pot hole and expects that the wheels will take it in strive then think again! I've seen heaaaaps of cracked OEM wheels, some as bad as the one above! One that comes to mind was from a guy that landed a wheelie on a pot hole. You don't have to be a genius to imagine the consequences, right?! Hitting the curb on any angle will also do wonders to your set up! ;)
I have a friend who rides a Gixxer thou with BST Carbon wheels and he had them for almost 2 years now, 40.000km of street riding without a single issue...

I wonder if anyone has studied the effects of running taller tires with taller sidewalls in providing additional impact resistance to protect the rim?

I.E. a 190/55 rear is taller and has a larger sidewall.............

........than the stock 190/50.

Here is the link for the Ducati. It's a lengthy read, but very thorough.
And you'll notice it is a track bike. So potholes won't be the issue. Although I fully agree, common sense plays a huge part(this instance is exception though)

This one crashed at the strip, doing 130. No conclusions were made, but a few accusations. Mostly regarding the thickness of the swingarm. And how easily it gave. It looks like about 1/2 the size of my Mac arm.
