WIILL RIDING MY BIKE WITHOUT A TUNE DAMAGE THE ENGINE?

I have a 2019 Gixxer 1000. I just installed a full exhaust system. But all the shops around me are at least a month out till they can get to it for a tune. Will riding it damage my engine without a tune? It doesn’t pop too much. But It does have a 2-3 second lag when I crank the throttle. I just don’t wanna ride it without a tune if it’s gonna damage my engine.

Yes. At least just get the ecu flashed. I just noticed you already made a thread asking this question. There is no exact answer to how much damage will be caused. They engine will be running leaner than it was designed to- so yeah it will cause some damage. Can you ride it for a month? Yes. Could something terrible happen? Yes but not likely. My advice is to mail the ecu to someone that can flash it and install a new fuel map.

Today fuel systems are able to compensate for slip-ons effect in backpressure and A/F ratio, but not for full systems. Flashing the ECU is nothing more nothing less than modifying the stock values for the A/F ratio in every RPM/throttle condition. That will allow you to run richer and avoid engine damage for leaning.

Was just in the same position after totaling my 18 R and when I picked up the 17 my tuner was about a month booked as well. I put the full titanium Brocks predator on and kept the 02 sensor plugged into the pipe and it ran fine but got into another accident and Brocks doesn’t do replacement parts like other companies and I’ve had to either buy the header and midpipe together or got lucky last time and got a full titanium system for half off but it fit terrible in some spots and thankfully could use some parts from the first one and all good but accident made me rethink it and went with M4 full Titanium Street slayer.

M4 would idle high like on start up randomly until I gave it just a tad throttle but that was it. Got it dynoD and made low 186 with high 83 TQ and no issues anymore. Turned out to be a fuel pump error is what my guy said but cleared the code and all good.

So you ran it without any tuning or PCV? I also have the O2 sensor plugged in the full exhaust. It seems as though the computer readjusts itself automatically after a little riding. Because it starts out running off as far as smooth engine running and exhaust airflow. It gargles sometimes and very few pops. But it’ll still have that 2-3sec lag on acceleration while riding on the highway.
