I have been a confirmed 192 mph on my K1 racing a 600 rwhp Z06. He said he saw 195 mph on the speedo before he hit the brakes and I was right next to him. I have the TRE mod done and my bike makes 149 rwhp.
:hammer What makes you think the Z06 speedo is accurate?? Your bike with the TRE mod is good for an actual top speed of 175 mph at best.. If you think anything else, your just kidding yourself.

We held the mph for a while

And my bike is geared down for higher mph top end....for now

Sorry bro, I'm not trying to burst your bubble but you could have that thing geared to the moon and your still not going to hit 195 mph... Get a GPS and you'll see your real speed, my guess would be your actual speed is more like 175 at best. You don't have to believe me, I'm just trying to let you know what's real. :cheers

u have a dyno sheet for your bike to confirm this rwhp?

I dont really care how fast I was going honestly, i was fast enough ;)

No scanned dyno sheets, the dealership I bought the bike at gave me a free dyno run because one of their dip$hit salesmen fouled my plugs pulling it around the building with the fast idle lever on.

... and lowering the gearing means you hit the rev limiter earlier and have a LOWER top speed!!:scratch

Even further.. The guys at the salt flats with stretched out turbo busa's with 250+ RWHP are only seeing speeds of 220+- MPH. I think the Suzuki superbikes are seeing speeds of around 190+- mph. I don't think our showroom street bikes are even close. People get so out of control with this topic, I'm not out to prove an unrealistic speed to anyone. I think the actual top speed of my K6 is 174 mph. Once I do the TRE it might be closer to 180 but anything more is just not possible without some major mods.

Maybe Sick1 has a jet pack strapped to his back..:D :wacko

I've heard that the thing runs about 180 mph unrestricted. There's simply not enough power in the motor to push the bike through the air much faster than that. You also have to take into account rider size and weight. Don't forget about headwind/tailwind.

+1
On the GPS I saw 173 the only way faster will be on the way down from a plane with out a parashute and even then I don't think I will see 190s :biggrin

Ang

05/06 gsxr1000 will go 183 MPH on GPS with stock gearing and stock tire
hieght, with the TRE installed the bike will go 189 MPH on GPS.
The speedos are generally off by 12-13 %.

i have a k5 with full yosh system power comander and new sprockets one tooth down in the front stock gearing in the rear and my speedo sait 187 in 5th gear at the rev limit just ran out of road . to be cont....

The actual top speed of an 05 is 204 in 5th gear and when you shift into 6th it slows back down to 189. The reason is that there is not enough power to run the higher gear to top speed. Of course all speedos are supposed to be regulated to 187 by US law, but the TRE will remove that and you can run to top speed. I have not gone over 178 on mine. But if you do the calculations with horsepower gear ratio you can get the theoretical top speed and then subtract 10-12%. I will try and find the calculations and post them.

the formula for figuring out a bikes theoretical top speed is:

top speed = [rpm x front sprocket size x rear tire circumference] / [primary gear ratio x 6th gear ratio x rear sprocket size x 26,817]

so this would be:

top speed = [13,500 x 17 x 1975] / 1.553 x 1.269 x 42 x 26,817]

so you are correct, the k5/k6 has a theoretical top speed of 204.2mph however, in 5th gear, the theoretical top speed is only 190.5mph.
