checked the fuses. The turn signal fuse was blown. changed it out and no difference. Which one does the alt go to anyway? I'll go out in a bit and check the voltage from the alt. So, I should see it climb when I rev it and everything? FUCK......I'm thinking it's hosed. I didn't reseat the alt this morning, because I was hoping it was just somthing electrical elsewhere. If I'm having the same symptoms straight from the alt I guess I'm screwed though.

Try Putting In The Spare Alternator And See What Happens.now That You Can Bolt It Down Correctly It Might Not Whine And Possibly Even Work.

JUST A THOUGHT WHILE I AM AT WORK.

there is no hope of that other one whinning. It was DEFINITELY the bearings in that loud fuckere. I am going to reseat the one that is on there now first and then that was going to be my next step.

checked the voltage coming from the alt while bike was running and got 2 things....JACK & SHIT! Ok, so now I reseated the alternator and hopefully that's all it was. I have to charge the battery up before I can check it. If that doesn't work I'll have to throw the squealing one in to test it out. I really thought I was past this f'n point. Just refer to the smiley in my sig below to see how I'm feeling right now.

(remain calm.....don't bash anything with a hammer yet. IF you do you'll just be more pissed off later.)

Ok.....I feel a LITTLE better now. It was just the way the alternator was seated on there....>BUT, when it is seated properly (semi properly anyway) it's back to whining a little bit. UGH. I think I'll just throw it on there for now and look into getting my spare fixed, so someday maybe I can have the best of both worlds.

I'm holding off on the ride for a bit until the kids are either in here eating dinner or after they go to bed.....for a couple of reasons. I was doing yard work....PLUS, I don't know if it was too much sun or the ham sandwich I had for lunch, but I've been speding A LOT of time in here on the computer with the fan on if you know what I mean..... Not good. Hopefully my belly feels good enough for a ride soon though.

Glad you got her back running with no leaks. I have built to many oil cooled motors over the years. I'm always happy to help when I can. make sure your alternaors have the same gears on them they are not all the same. Kinda like the GSXR transmissions and the Katana transmissions. The alternator shouldnt whine from gear to gear contact. Noise would be due to a bad bearing, worn starter gear bushing or wrong pinion gear on the alternator. You can change the gear(s) around on the alternator with an impact gun.
