I need to remove and replace the whole stator on 07 GSXR after a blind driver forced me down the road.

Got as far as undoing the nut on the crank (where you need to hold it to stop turning and undoing the bolt), but the bolt is very tight. Is this a normal right hand thread or is it a left hand thread. Dont want to get heavy and force the wrong way. The manual just says undo.

Please can someone throw some light on this for me.

Thanks

Which bolt are you talking about? When I took mine off to replace it with a Woodcraft skid plate version. You take the 8 or so bolts on the perimeter of the cover. There is one more inside once you take idle gear cover (3 bolts). Watch when you pull the idle gear there is a washer that floats on the shaft. Once all the bolts are off the cover is still held on by the magnetism of the stator. Watch your fingers and pull like a mother. I just used my hands and pried with my fingers off the block. Should pop off, the yellow wires will keep the cover close to the bike. You should still be able to work on the Stator. Let me know if this helped at all. Good luck.

Thanks newtuner should have been more specific.

It is the alternator rotor bolt that needs to be removed. It is the bolt on the crankshaft. The crankshaft has flats for a spanner to hold and stop rotating as the bolt is undone on the crank. It is the bolt in the middle of the altenator rotor, the part with all the magnets in it. It is VERY tight and scared I may be turning the wrong way so is it normal thread or left hand thread is the concern, before giving a bit of muscle.

Sorry if over the top with description but want to make sure I get it right this time.

Please can someone help as I need to get on the road for the TT, and need to get other stuff.
