None taken. I was just impressed that it hadn't stretched in that time. With how inexpensive they are and the amount of choices it doesn't make sense not to go with a 520. Yes the gold chain looks good but it makes it easier to clean as well.

I do see your point, I guess it would make sense if you don't do alot of riding, but for me, I put 53,000 miles on my '04 1k and I ride hard. I want a chain that is going to hold up. If I were running a 520 kit on the street, under those circumstances, I'd be broke and wouldn't have been able to afford my new k7..

For what it's worth, I buy the most expensive DID chain and run them for 20,000 miles. I never adjust or clean it unless I needed a new rear tire, I adjust it, but still never clean it. I replace them after 20,000 just because of the abuse and neglect I give the chain. But they hold up well. I ride... alot... And the added benefits that a 520 will give is nowhere near justifiable for street use. Not on a liter bike. And most of the guys that are changing, most anyways, cannot ride hard or fast enough to notice a difference between a 520 and a 530. If you have never even done a track day, then I know you don't need a 520. Someone please show me the benefit for it on the street. Waste of your money. For me anyways.. :cheers

As of today I've had my bike exactly 1 year and have almost 20k miles on it. I neglected my factory chain and it died at about 15k miles. This one I try to clean and lube every week. Eventually i'll do some trackdays but don't have the time or money right now. I went with an RK GXW chain as it has the highest tensile strength. They have a 20k mile warranty on them.:thumbup I had stock gearing so I can't truly compare the 520 and 530 chain. Even if I had to change my chain once a year it way cheaper than the amount of money I spend on tires.:biggrin

You don't need a cush drive to change sprockets, especially not the front one. :scratch
Yes, but without the cush drive there's a noticeable increase in noise from the front sprocket which I'd prefer to minimise if possible. The increased noise level was very noticeable on my R6 track bike when I did the 520 conversion.

I finally found an OEM 16t front sprocket complete with cush drive to fit my K6 and, at the risk of repeating what has already been said, this is the most cost effective mod I've done so far. The gearing and mid range reminds me of my K3 and is in the rev range that I live most of the time. A significant improvement for a mere AUD80.
