Deka. They last for years. Sometimes it's hard to find a dealer, though.

well i went to a local place here, Berts, to pick up a factory replacement battery. They gave me a Yuasa yt12a-bs.

it seems u have to fill the 6 holes with sulfiric acid? This doesn't sound right to me I thought these batteries were gel cells and were made of a different chemical make up and didnt require such things. Did I get the wrong battery?

 

The battery should be an MF (maintenance free). Usually all motorbike batteries come dry and you must add the electrolyte yourself. YT12A-BS sounds about right.

 

ah ok I see what you are supposed to do now, just fill it up and seal it, and slow charge it.

Read the instructions and follow them properly, the initial charge is very important to battery life. If you dont have an appropriate charger then take it to someone that does.
If its a japanese made Yuasa it should last about 5 years.
