How you guys doing. Im new to the gixxer gang & also kinda new to riding. I've recently got interested in riding last year. But before my motorcycle I got a Chinese dirt bike/pit bike whatever you wanna call it. It's an Apollo DB-36 (250). I gotten that bike because my father in law brought over my step son an 50cc pit bike. I rode it ( I know too big for it) & love the new experience. So I was like a kid "I want one". So I had the apollo for maybe a month or so. So I was looking up parts to make it street legal but no success. So I was like you know what I wanna go faster & further than my Apollo can go. I researched researched & researched watched a LOT of YouTube videos. So I said I wanna be a gixxer man. Seen a bike I like drove 4 hours with my uhaul trailer picked up my bike went home. Got it off the trailer, look at it & said to myself what have I gotten myself into. Roll it up the hill to my garage (rolled it because I'm not gonna lie was death scared to ride it). Slept on the subject of riding it. Got up early pulled it out & rode it for the first time & the rest is history. Sorry for the long story.

Well, I'm not sure how this all panned out for you since your post. I guess you found that you loved it just like most of us did. I learned all by myself to ride a bike too. Someone said - there's the throttle, brake clutch, gearshift and the kick start,, then he walked away, so I kind of figured all out and went to it. It was only a 50cc Suzuki bike and I was only about 13, and I rode it up the side of a tree trying to figure out how to stop the thing. No damage done, but that was enough to start me off - hooked for life.. Hope you enjoy the forum...!!!

I got back on my dirt bike before riding it because I talked to a couple of friends of mine & they was saying the dirt bike and motorcycle is no different other than the motorcycle is alot more torquey & the dirt bike is very forgiving. So I got used to riding my dirt bike a few days & said you know what I think I'm ready to start my journey on the motorcycle. I'm still in my learning curve but got the concept of it & very cautious on the street. But did got on the interstate & let me tell you. It's alot of fun. Only thing I'm kinda having trouble with is the "rev match" while downshifting & sometimes stall while trying to go from a stoplight & it's embarrassing. On my dirt bike I can hold in the clutch & give it gas a slowly let out the clutch to get going. Haven't really tried it on the motorcycle because don't want to harm anything like the clutch.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before you get the whole "riding your new bike" thing all sorted out. Talk about stalling at the lights - 2 years ago I bought a new GSX-R1000, and right in front of the shop owner and sales guy, I gingerly took off onto the road and up to the nearby corner maybe 30 metres (same as yards) away and nearly went over the handlebars when I braked then stalled as I went to move off. Too much free play in the clutch and brake levers. To top it off, after I restarted it I went to take off onto the main road and the throttle also had so much free play in it that I wound up slightly over revving it as the clutch bit and nearly ran into a parked car on the other side because the bike took off like a rocket and ran wide. Talk about embarrassing...!!! Tell you what though,, it was the only time that happened. Got it home and adjusted all three - no more problems, and I quickly found myself feeling quite at ease with the bike. At that stage I hadn't been on a bike for 10 years. Hang in there...!!!
Cheers and good riding.

Speaking of brakes. My brake lever will touch the bar but does have pressure to stop the bike. I tried bleeding it at the Mc it help but reverted back. Someone said it's in need of a Mc rebuild. Which I'm scared to do.

That really does sound like it has an air lock in there somewhere, or yes, maybe a master cylinder problem (which I have never touched before either). Whichever it is, I can only advise to sort it out in quick order man as that can have real bad consequences for you if you aren't careful - as in "No Brakes" or not enough brakes, when you really need them... I am 100% sure there are many in this forum who can easily help you one way or another to get it fixed...

I don't wanna/don't like messing with the brakes. Wondering how much it'll cost to rebuild the mc.
