All 3 prongs are not the same on your HID bulb. 2 of them have a beveled , leading edge. The other one is squared on both edges. This "oddball" prong locates at approx. a 4 o'clock position in the back of the headlight housing. In one swift motion, push in and twist CLOCKWISE and the bulb will lock in. That silicone gasket is kinda thick, but you need it to keep moisture out of the housing.

I just put a HID kit on my K8 last night. 6000k color, 35watt. Also replaced the parking light above with a 4-led, 194 bulb to match the color.

did you get the parking light from liteeyes? if so was it the blue one or white one.. you have the 6000ktemp hid so i'm assuming white? just checking.

I bought everything from Ebay and the brand of the LED lights are (type 194) GP Thunder (part # 194-5F) The xenon 5800K "HID like" bulbs are brand Brightly Yours and they are called XD5...65w super white and made w/quartz glass. I will take pics of what everything looks like tonight after the UFC fights and post them up later or tomorrow. Glad to see everyone is going w/the DDM kits from Apexcone/sharphid.com!!
are these the 5-led's you're talking about: Part#: GP-194F-5W?
the reason i ask is cause the part number you gave is a little off from what he has listed on the item's page.

also, you can put a 65w HI bulbs even though manual states 60w HI?

I got these before I knew about this forum and had the same problems you mention, plus a 25000k purple bulb doesnt light shit lol. I wouldnt recommend the kit to anyone. I wound up using the 8000k he sent me for free because the 25000k lowbeam looked purple, and taking the highs out and just going with the stocks. Going to buy a 6000k H11bulb somewheres as soon as I get around to it to have more useful light. For now on I plan on using the website sponsors since they get excellent reviews, and not rolling the dice with fleabay anymore.
i got mine in 6k; good choice :thumbup

i kinda wanna put a red in one high beam and blue in the other haha turn on brights and they strobe. i bet you could do that and rig a siren and just be able to do 130 down the highway during rush hour. the cars would split like the ocean :biggrin

do you have a pic of just the halo turned on and the led you're talking about associated with the switch?

i use one for my halo's and one for my body lights, each switch has a single LED light that lights up when i flip the switch on as well.
if i was a cop that would be sweet to be able to pull over people on my gixxer. i would be giving every cell phone talker, texter and left lane cruiser a damn ticket for sure.. oh and especially the ones that dont use their damn turn signals either!!!

:scratch:scratch:scratch:scratch

If you ordered the 55W kit and it wasn't bright enough you shouldn't be riding at night.
it didn't say it wasn't bright enough, just not as much as i was expecting.
thanks for the compliment, i dont believe the ballast is marked at all on the ddm roducts, mine werent, and i think if they are 35 watts they have a sticker where the 55 watts are just a black ballast wit hno sticker.
it also depends on the kelvin rating you got as well. the 4300 to 6000 kelvin i believe is the brightest part of the spectrum, anything outside of that wil not put out as many lumens.
there was a report i believe of someone on this thread actually getting a 35w when he ordered 55w. my bulb i have now is 6k but i am thinking about getting 5k. you would think that there would be some sort of specification on its specs.. nothing on the box or ballast.

I agree... My 55watt system does not have a sticker indication. I was wondering the same thing until I took my multimeter out and sure enough... runs between 50-55 watts.
i will have my stepdad do that. he is the electronic guru.

:eek:fftopic
hey kevin, do you know much about how headphones work. like for example putting an inline volume control hurt sound quality?

im debating 2 skullcandy models: the smokin' buds (inline volume) OR the ink'd (no inline volume).
i've read that ink'd produce more bass and mid but not overdone, just pure. the smokin' buds are lower quality and released first. ink'd is the successor. and the frequency range on the two models are diff. idk what any of it means.

i just have low beam HID so only one ballast. i was changing head light housings today so i had it all apart and just decided why not put my ballast in my left air duct.. more cooling for when it gets hot. i didn't take pics during install but regardless, i have a couple after it was back together.

if you want to clean it up even a little more, those two little connectors actually slide together on the back side and connect to one another, and then take two little zip ties and zip them together and they wont come apart, and hell you did yours alot better than mine, i might have to change mine around next winter or something, nice job.
haha thanks
im going to go try that right now.
and to think i was only going to change out the headlight housing, but decided to put the ballast in the left duct.

i also am wanting to illuminate the ducts to show the glow on the intakes below the headlight. didn't i see a post where you had yours done? where in the duct did you mount it? as for the power to the leds, is there a way to wire up the duct lights to the 194 parking bulb? i really don't want to have to mess with toggle switches and forgetting about them.

yes there is mess there, i took the old mesh off the stock filter and cut it to shape to fit in there, it was ok looking but then i found some stretched aluminum sheets for $.59 a piecce and used that instead.
what i did for the air tube lights was drill two holes, 1 in the top, and 1 on the outside of the tube. this way you cant see the bulb in the tubes. then i drilled another hole about a 1/2" from those two and ran th wires back through the air tubes to the intakes in the frame. from there, 1 hole to pull the wires out, and i made connectors to diconnect them if i need to take the air tubes off. then i ran the wires from there to a control box for my lights, and thn that is wired to the battery and a switch.
its all a little complicated at first, but once you figure it out its easy, if you have more questions just ask.

i also did this as well...

that is going to be my next project.
where did you get those sheets of alum?
i don't know why they didn't put one there from factory... all kinds of crap can get in there!!!
