But still, realistically, with the HD engine compression, HP, and gear ratio, I still can't see the Harley out performing the Gixxer 1000.

I could be wrong, but still.....

 

maybe an h-d drag bike ,but it doesn't matter because your gonna lose the guy as soon as you hit the first turn his pipes will drag and he'll lowsideunk lol

I had a professor in college that was a Harley nut. She spent most of her career making lots of money before she retired and started teaching part time, so she had a real big budget. Her sportster was just barely streetable. With a skilled rider that could launch it right, I reckon it'd sneak up on alot of 600 riders, especially in a 1/8 mile drag. Of course I'm no drag racing expert. For all the talk she was never willing to take it out to race. I guess that's sort of the HD version of a Starbucks poser that has mods just to talk about them.

 

So I guess that pretty much decides the outcome.

Unless it's a full blown drag bike, the HD just does not have a chance with the 1000, thanks, I'll discuss this at work haha

I've already talked one guy out of buying a Harley, and getting him into a Suzuki Cruiser instead. For the price of the Harley, he could buy 2 cruisers :cheers

I don't understand people like that. I don't think they realize just how fast these bikes are. It's like they're jealous that their "big cube" biker are slower, even though they're not even designed to go fast, nor are they advertised as being fast. :wackoI bet that all the people who talk like that have never actually ridden a sportbike, at least not outside of a parking lot.

 

ok. If some one was going to spend all the time and money to supe up a H.D. and add nitro to it, just for the fact that they will beet a 1000 gixxer. who cares Ill add a shit load of chrome and leather bull shite to hang off my barends.

 

my neighbor has a nitro methane harley that runs high 6's in the quarter. not really what we were talking about, but neat non-the-less.

 

I know of a few Harleys that have huge money invested & can be very quick in a drag, but, they are barely streetable & if you run them hard for long they WILL blow up for sure. So whats the point? A stock gixxer 750 or 1000 are so fast with mild modding & you can run the piss out of them all day long & they will not break. I will take a Gixxer any day, pump gas, fast as hell, reliable as hell, minimal maintainance, sign me up guys!:cheers

 

This is like comparing an Impala to an EVO. The Harley wasnt made to be fast although it's feasible. Most people around here with anything fast and outdated are usually on old Kaw, Yam, or Hondas. Harleys were fast somewhere between the steam engine and the Model T
