Re: New Picture post thread. Post \'em up!

CCCP, yes I do have the stock 47 tooth. No good twisties in S. Florida. We're all about the Top-End runs and being that av8r drew me back in, topping out at 160 just isn't my bag. Gotta make sure the "Classic" or "Dinosaur" can hang with all the new High-Tech guys. My bike is a 1255 with 13.3 to 1 and lots of headwork, but we're not going to open up that can of worms again! How'd you like the 45 and was anything done to your bike?

Re: New Picture post thread. Post \'em up!

av8r, I think I can speak for all of us here. Your rstoration efforts and attention to detail are greatly appreciated no matter what kind of bike it is. Wow, that thing is showroom! Had to show it to the guys at work. One of 'em has a VTX1800 and a Rune. He was definitely in awe.

Notchit,

Thanks, but you aren't talking about the 900F are you? That bike is far from showroom. It looks good in pictures, but it isn't showroom. Not bad for an 82, but I wouldn't place any bets on it either. There are a few guys on this forum that are every bit as anal as I am when it comes to restorations so I know I'm not alone. That's why I like it here.

I do appreciate the compliment though.

Tuner,

Thanks to you, I am not going to sleep well tonight. I can't buy that from you right now as I just purchased a bunch of other parts and it left me over budget (parts budget that is) this month. Right now I have to sell off a few extras for my other bikes so I can offset to buy a Fox shock, and some new tail pieces. But lets not get too hasty. Let me see if this guy I know has a matching front - then I'll go out to the garage and see what else I can sell.

Re: New Picture post thread. Post \'em up!

Are you talking about Ragnar? I think he's got the front,I know he's got the link to website in Japan that does anyway. Shoot him a PM. Wheel is yours until you give it up...small price to pay for tortue!

Re: New Picture post thread. Post \'em up!

Just sent you an email. No, it wasn't Ragnar. It's another guy offsite. He used to race them back in the day and mentioned to me about a year ago that he had one collecting dust. I wasn't interested at the time because I thought there was no chance of ever finding a rear.

Re: New Picture post thread. Post \'em up!

Notchit, I don't know what the hell I was on when i was writing that. Of course, the stock sprocket is 45. What I have on mine is a 47. What that does is it trains you to be pretty precise with your wrist.

As far as mods on my bike - very mild:
V&H exhaust - loud enough to wake up dumbasses in cars, very nice safety feature;
K&N indiv. filters, Dynojet
47 tooth sprocket, apparently - just found that out the other day, duuuh... I used to think Suzuki people were stupid for not having a 6th gear, since my Ninja 10 felt like it had way more top speed. I learned to like the readily available acceleration all the way up to 130-140, though.

Re: New Picture post thread. Post \'em up!

Now I'm really confused...I thought stock gearing was 47/14. I do know that's what was on my bike and assumed that since I owned it from 2,000 mile on, that it was stock gearing. Now, I went and purchased a 44 rear because it's all done as it seems it's just getting started! Either way, I am going to try the 44 and see how I like it. Being that I am a pack-rat and never sell anything, I'll keep the 47 around in case I don't like the 44. The only problem I have is finding it again.

Re: New Picture post thread. Post \'em up!

I still got mine. I took this the same day as the GSX-R pics I posted. I just did an 1100F wheel conversion on this one.

Hopefully I won't be tarred and feathered for posting it here.

Notchit, the only R1 thing on my GSX-R is the bottom eyelet for the Ohlins shock and technically, it isn't a Yamaha part. I owned an 02 R1 until about a year ago when I sold it to

my buddy. There a few of my pics posted on this site where it lurks in the background.
Anyway, from owning that bike I knew that it had an eyelet on the bottom of the shock so when I found the Ohlins from a 94, I just unscrewed the bottom clevis adjuster and ordered an R1 eyelet with the GSX-R bushing from Ohlins. Any eyelet would have worked really, the bushing was the important part. So, it really isn't a Yamazuki, I just got the idea from having owned an R1.

That bike brings me back to high school, brought back alot of great memoeies, thanks for posting that
