Fuck, this beautiful endurance style headlamp is no longer available so I bought a matt black headlight cover and drilled it out with a hole saw for a cheapo replication...

Anyhow , it was a fun way to murder the day. :suicide

Looks really good Gixan!!

Said goodbye to my 1143 three weeks ago. Had to sell it for my surgery I was having done. Sold it to one of my best friends to ad to his collection of bikes. It will be bike #7 (lucky#7). He has a 1204 stroker, a 1510cc big bore Busa, BMW s1000rr, Ducati 1098 Corse edition, and two 86 GSXR 1100"s. It will be in great care with him. Hated to let it go but needed the money for my surgery. Maybe down the line I'll get me another one.

Farewell girl, you were my favorite and you always destroyed all who came up against you!!:fact

Wow , it’s a tough decision you sometimes have to make ... it helps that it’s gone to a good home.

“Things” can always be replaced :cheers

Thank you JP,

Sad to hear you sold "the Beast" but somehow I think you will someday build another..maybe with the L2 ?

Hope your problem not to serious and that your surgery goes well or went well already.

Your friend has quite a stable !
Maybe he will post here to let us know how he's liking it.

re G

Sold the L2 as well Gixan so right now I am bikeless.

I am healiing well from my total hip replacement surgery. I’ve been dealing with this for 15 years. It all started from a motorcycle accident back in 2003. From then until now the arthritis in my hip just got to a point where it was debilitating, so I had to get it fixed. Feel so much better now at 2 weeks post -op. The first week I had to use a walker, but now I’m walking fine.

Maybe in the future I’ll get another one. If I do, I might just go with something different just to change things up. I like the Aprilia RSV4, the R1, and the BMW I have always liked because the ergos feel so much like a Gixxer. We will see....

Cams and a ported head from Tim Radley for my next bike, thats it!! But you know how that goes...

Good that you got it taken care of, hope they gave you a good heavy duty part.

No mention of Panigrail V4 lol ?

I told the Surgeon I wanted the atomantium hardware.:grin2:

The Ducati V4 Gixan is nice but to pricey. If you are paying $40K for a bike you shouldn’t have to buy anything for it. But you have to buy another full exhaust for it just to get of the catalytic converter which cost $5K.
That’s ridiculous!!

I’d rather buy Japanese and dump $10K into it and you will be at 200hp+ easy. Think I’ll wait till 2020. More than likely all the bikes will have the variable valve timing since everyone is moving in that direction. BMW just did that with their new 2019.

Hey gents, wanted to share this....

pic 1) I don't know about you guys but at the end of long days , pulling in clutch starts to make my hand/forearm sore...even though adjusted perfectly and cable lubed. The solution is to acquire lever with variable leverage ratio. picked up the CRG SC2..
To put it mildly : It's totally Bitchen ! clutch pressure like a 250 now. not cheap but worth it

I took a chance and sent my ECU to a guy on E-bay that has flashing service. What he does is limited. Eliminates timing retard, raise rev limit/top speed, and adjusts secondary's to open sooner. Disabling fuel cut was not an option but I asked if it was possible so he spoke to his software engineer and they enabled the option. It's subtle but the bike is better. Seems a bit snappier now and no more herky jerky if I'm lazy with clutch or throttle at slow speeds. Seems to hesitate less now coming on throttle from closed position but I'm still trying to determine if it's all in my head lol.

pic 2) Got a couple more headlight covers to mess around with . Used PS to try a few looks and then combined all together to compare. Which do ya like best if any? bike as it is now is on the left.

Also trying a few new simple graphics.
I now have three sets of side tails lol ; Silver,Black and white (action shot)

cheers G

Gixan, you and Almgren have the absolute prettiest bikes on this thread!! His orange/black color is rare. That tail section modification you did was absolute genius! I would have never thought about that and never seen that on any K3/K4 but yours. If you can remember mine-- oh how I miss that girl--the only aesthetic change to mine was the subtle paint scheme change to the bottom from white to blue, fender and hugger painted blue, and got rid of the carbon fade to white on the upper cowl just to solid white. It was good enough for me to be a little different than the rest.

Glad you did the reflash on the ECU. These bikes are restricted some with the timing retard. You know me:Mr HP.... I did everything I could to extrapolate every bit of hp out of my girl. I was already at my limit on what I could do to the motor. The only other thing I could have done more was go to a K1/K2 block and do a 5mm bore instead of the 3mm on my K4 block. The ventilation holes on the bottom of our year bikes make the cylinders weak and prone to cracking with bigger over bores than 3mm. Also going to a K7/K8 head would have been the icing on the cake. The head design on those year models are far superior, even more than the K5/K6 model. There are so manny things I changed up, like going to bored 50mm Haybusa throttle bodies that were machined with a tapper to 46mm for velocity. Also, I used 3rd-5th gear tranny from a K6 model because it is more close ratio for faster acceleration; kept my year 6th gear because it is higher ration than the K5+ models for greater top end speed. I would always run things by IridiumRed back when he was on here more. Man I miss all his articulate posts!! We would spend hours on the phone tossing things back and forth about things motor related. When he would say, 'JP, I never thought about doing that" it would make me happy because that guy knows his stuff!!

Pm me your email....
