Which one are you using? and which one do you recommend?

The cheapest one is the Annitori one, which seems to have great features, adjustable kill time, push and pull, as well as sensitivity however, it is not gear specific. Apart from that looks to be the one I am heading for but here are others to consider.

The Bazzaz QS4 stand alone, not sure on the level of adjust ability if this unit is purchased individually (not part of the Z-FI-TC unit) as its a bit vague, I know with the full ZFI TC unit you can adjust per gear, kill time etc... however, this one is only push type, pull has to be bought separately. This unit is also about 25% more expensive the the Annitori.

I would love a Woolich one that is part of the factory ECM however they do not offer it for our model bike.

There is the alternative of doing the Ridge racer and jetspeedz ECM mod to allow tuning of the factory unit outside of the Woolich version, this requires more fiddling around, and myself to tune it. Although this seems it will be the cheapest, chances are it would cost me the same as getting the Annitori unit along with a Woolich tune. This is because I'd still have to buy the strain gauge, the Bin. file which activates the QS, then hire a dyno for a few hours. If all goes well, this could net the best results, however there is more variables with this route.

Is there any other route that I can take for a QS that is integrated with the factory ECM? or should I just go standalone? if so which one?

Thanks in advanced.

im currently using a healtech iqse unit atm. Took a little time to smoothen it out in the lower rev ranges but once you tinker with it and adjust via bluetooth/app and on the road, its pretty bloody good. At full throttle when you are really getting a move on, its perfect. Easy instal, easier to adjust via app.

Thanks for the input!

The Healtech adjust ability looks amazing thanks for sharing.

I'm just not sold of doing it as a stand alone unit, I just feel I should get one through the ECU, has anyone done it this way? which route did they go?

I'm also looking at the Cordona ones, they definitely seem to be the best quality, just don't know much about them, any one have and experiences with them? or ran one of theirs through the computer?

Keep us posted on this. Was thinking of going with the Healtec one since I can't think of anything else to do to my bike and uh....quick shifters are cool. :wacko

Lot's of youtube vids on this subject. :banana

I'm using a Cordona strain gauge sensor (Woolich also uses Cordona sensors) through ECU, a few of my friends have the same setup. I'd say QS works better when you use bike's ECU to control cuts.

Are the cuts done through ignition?

Also where does the qs sensor plug to? The Yoshi plug? If so can you tune it while the qs sensor is also plugged in?

Is there anywhere/one that sells all the factory plugs/clips /fittings to do the Ridge racer mod or does it have to be purchased individually?

Thanks again and sorry for all the questions. I'm definitely leaning towards doing the ecu hack myself with the qs bin. File I'm just worried I'll lose the factory map.

The Bazzaz can be purchased as push OR pull. YOu can buy separately, but you specify which one you want when you buy the kit.

Whichever you choose, the QS MUST have adjustability in all gears. Lever travel/cog spacing/rpm range when shifting are all different 1 through 3 than from 3-6.

Any suggestions to which one has that adjustability? thats what I am looking for.

So I've done some more searching and as far as stand alone 'adjustability', the Bazzaz is winning. The unit is either push or pull (earlier i thought it was one or the other from some reason) and it is programmable per a gear. However this unit is known to throw an FI code, which I know is nothing, but its definitely something that would get under my skin.

Still waiting to hear back from a few other options, to see if I can get one that I can adjust through the factory ECU.

Anyone on a K5-6 have any experience with the QS4 stand alone? I'm also worried about the strain gauge clearing the shift lever as they are already quite close.

I use the Translogic Quickshifter...Was easy to install and works very well...I also bought the Quickset Adjuster...

I know there are hundreds of videos out there on Quick Shifters but, this one shows install plus a ride review

I've been looking more and more into this unit as many people I've spoken with have pointed me towards that unit, saying it was among the better quality stand alone units.

However I've been struggling to find information on it, even from their website.

How are adjustments made to the unit (Blue tooth, usb, etc)?

What adjustments can be made i.e. sensitivity, cut times(RPM or gear dependent)?

Does the unit come with the clutch switch wire(even for our normally open GSXR clutch switches) as part of the QS or only when you also purchase the adjuster, or not at all because of the nature of the GSXR clutch switch?

Anything else you can tell me about it? was it a real plug and play, or did you have to swap wires around? Does it come with a 12v power cable you had to connect separately or does it sap power from the coils?

Thanks, and sorry for all the questions... its looking like either this unit or a just a reflash which seems to be the better option if I can confirm what parameters can be adjusted.

I have used dozens of air shifters on many of my bikes over the years...Hell I still have a Dale Walker Holeshot shifter for a Mag on my old Turbo street bike, this shifter is smooth as silk

Did you watch the video??

The guy answers all the questions you asked...the only thing he does not mention is "Quickset Adjuster" to tell you the truth I set it in the center and have never touched it...seeing that I am on this truth confession...I only bought the dam thing cause it looked cool.

However I've been struggling to find information on it, even from their website.

If you e mail the web site they will answer your questions...at least they did me the very next day

How are adjustments made to the unit (Blue tooth, usb, etc)

As the guy says in the video...you do not need to make adjustments

What adjustments can be made i.e. sensitivity, cut times(RPM or gear dependent)?

None as far as I know...Watch the Video...unless you buy the "Quickset Adjuster" then you can adjust the kill times (save your money) I drove without it plugged in smooth as fast as silk...plugged it in, SAME no difference

Does the unit come with the clutch switch wire(even for our normally open GSXR clutch switches) as part of the QS or only when you also purchase the adjuster, or not at all because of the nature of the GSXR clutch switch?

The video shows you every item you get in the kit...it is just so simple to install... it is made for your year and model bike,no wire cutting

Anything else you can tell me about it?

Yes watch the video

was it a real plug and play,

Yes 100% Plug and Play...hell I did not even have to cut the supplied shift shaft (they provide 3 different types)

or did you have to swap wires around? Does it come with a 12v power cable you had to connect separately or does it sap power from the coils?

You know what I am going to say here :):):)

Buy it...Install it...Go ride

John

PS: its looking like either this unit or a just a re-flash...What does a re-flash have to do with adding a Quick Shifter???

It's been a while but my notes say that the mating 8 pin connector for the Suzuki Access Port is Kawasaki 26011-1773. It includes the connector body+pins+insulating seals. It costs more than from AliExpress but is more readily available.

See this for more info on that and the serial-to-usb adapter. It's also mentioned in the K5/K6 flashing thread.

I've finally ordered a quick shifter. Decided to go with the Translogic QS, although it doesn't have gear dependent adjustability, which is what I really wanted, it cuts and reapplies power 'softly'. From what I gather its the same way the ignition cut works I.E cuts power to two cylinders, than all four, then reapplies power two cylinders, than all four. Seems to be a high quality kit, meant to be made in UK, and is quite small. The way adjustments are made look painful, however it seems that adjustments wont have to be made all that often, if at all. Its not meant to throw any fault codes, and comes with some nice quality shift rods ( I seem to always bow mine, even the standard ones without stacking it and without a QS), they look beefier.

I'm yet to receive it, I'll keep you posted once I get it and get some riding time with it.

Thanks to all for the advice!

With regards to the reflash, I still plan on doing this however, more for deceleration fuel cut disable and just to muck around with the ignition (maybe TRE), fueling and STV (opening times, not removal).
