And here is a real kicker. Just like the car you can steer the bike can lean, and it still not turn... the tire tries to straighten out, slides, and goes past where it needs to be, tucks and unless the rider does something amazing... the bike crashes.

It both was steered and leaned. Just never turned

the completion of the input is the steering, not the start or middle.
Wrong. The act of moving the bars is steering. Steering is how you "
steer**
/sti(É™)r/
Verb
(of a person) Guide or control the movement .
You can also steer by spinning the rear tire where it slides sideways, turning the chassis in a different direction. Steering is what you do to control the movement that causes the bike to turn, be it by turning the bars, adding or subtracting throttle, body English, or most commonly all of the above at once.
disregarding your own definition.

i followed your definition.

i'll leave that one alone.

i said that the steering is not initiated until the input has been stopped or reduced.
Are you drunk?high?

You are stil l confusing the act of steering, and the bike turning. The are not the same thing

Steering is an act you do to control the bike. Turning is what the bike does in response to you steering. Hopefully.

You said
what most people think of countersteering does not steer the bike. the initial push on the bars does not steer, it changes wheel track and the bike does not steer until that input is reduced or finished.
Your act of counter steering, both by name and definition is steering. To say counter steering is not steering is categorically and laughably wrong.

Here is what you meant to say, I hope ..

what most people think of countersteering does not turn the bike. the initial steering push on the bars does not turn, it changes wheel track and the bike does not turn until thatsteering input is reduced or finished.
;)

So there I was riding down this long straight road do 65mph . There was a 40 mph crosswind wind which leaned the bike over 20 degrees . The bike kept going straight so long as I didn't counter steer to the left of right . :biggrin :biggrin

Better yet. When you hang off yo the left prior to turning left while braking and readying for an upcoming turn to the left, you have to lean the bike slightly right in order to keep going straight.
