Start by checking the battery to make sure it has sufficient voltage. Also, check the plug at the instrument panel and make sure it is plugged in all the way. Has the battery been on a tender? How long was it parked?
I have checked the plug at the instrument panel, that's all the way in, I have charged the battery every weekend since its been parked up, it been parked since October. I haven't started it at all until it fell on Saturday, that's when I noticed nothing was on the clock etc, I automatically thought something had happened when it fell but it could have been like that for a while. When it fell I cracked the nose cone and the screen so have had to strip it all down to replace, will have a check do the harness and hope i find something.

Thanks :dunno

I'll say it again... Check the fuses!!!

Fuses wouldn't account for the tach to be stuck at 7k though. Sounds like "something broke". :thumbup

Drop it on the left side? There's a large connector that links the front end harness to the main harness. Probably knocked something loose there.

Wow, new member and the first 6 replies are the mods hassling them..... great job guys.
Which thread are you reading? Only one post was a smartass reply, and wasn't even technically incorrect. I offered advice, as did Knight. Then I responded to a question.

So where is his hassling you speak of?

:wait

Charging it every weekend brings up a number of questions:

1. What kind of charger?
2. How long did you charge the battery for?
3. At what amps did you charge the battery?
4. Is it a sealed battery or do you need to check the level in the cells?
5. Is it the original battery or has it been replaced?

Have it load tested to make sure it's not bad.

If the tach is stuck, something is broken inside. Like suggested before, try to borrow one to plug in to your bike if available. The tach needle should fall to 0 and "float" around if you take the gauges off the bike and turn them around. If you were to turn the ignition on and watch the tach sweep, then shut it off as it was sweeping, it would not stick there it would fall to 0. I think you might need new gauges. The mileage of the bike is stored in the gauge cluster.
