Hi all,
So, Im at the end of my rope with this bike. Fucking thing wont even crank the starter with the new CDI. Ive asked the bloke to return my old one so I can at least test it again to see if it is the CDI that is faulty or not.
Where to go from here? I cant afford to spend thousands or even hundreds getting someone to diagnose it for hours on end, and honestly, the bike isnt even worth it value wise.
I checked the ignition fuse, OK. I checked the starter relay fuse, OK. I hooked up the battery to my car to make sure that that battery just wasnt completely dead, and no change at all.
Basically, this new CDI is doing the same thing as the one from the 93, just causes a dead switch, like if I was trying to start the bike with the kill switch on, which i made sure I was not trying to do.
My mechanic said he tested all the safety switches (clutch and sidestand), but maybe those are the first things I have to look at again. He tested every conceivable thing related to the shitty running of the bike, and the CDI was his last link in the chain. I know he is very competent, and put over 10 hours of work into the bike, so this is really mind blowing.
I cant afford to spend hundreds or thousands getting someone to diagnose the electrics on this thing, and am almost at the tipping point of breaking it for parts, or selling it to a wrecker for a grand (if im lucky).
Does anyone have any suggestions, or questions to help diagnose what this issue could be?
I really dont want another watercooler to head to the junkyard. Cause apart from this electrical issue, the bike is pretty much flawless.
