Hey guys,

Got the FI code this morning on the way to work. I'm going to use this Dealer Mode method: http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=183653&highlight=dealer+mode

couple questions though:

If the code doesnt appear EVERY time I ride, do you suggest riding around with an allen wrench to get the seat off and a paperclip for Dealer Mode until I do get the FI again?

If i were to put the paperclip in (without the FI appearing), and leave it in and ride around, would it automatically display the SPECIFIC code (C46, C14 etc.) next time it feels like appearing?

That would be correct. Although you may want to invest in the plug that has the switch wired to it, if youre going to ride with it. You can also use it down the road to check your TPS, etc..

If you do get the FI, wait until you get home, just dont shut the bike off.
Then check your code..

If it's happening frequently, go ahead and leave it in dealer mode while you ride. No real harm.

The other option is to take it to a dealership and they can use the SDS tool to pull the code history.

Thanks for the feedback. As for the location for both ends of the paperclip, does it have to be the two holes pictured in the photo that rraider posted in the thread i attached to my OP? can it be any of the 6 holes or specifically those two?

Also, does the specific code (c46 for example) display as soon as i put the paperclip in or is there something else i need to do after i inset the paperclip?

It has to be those two specificly. Not sure about the 06, but on the 05, it's the only two opposing wires in that plug.

If this is your plug, and the O represents a wired spot, and an X is an empty spot, then the column where both are O are the two to jumper.
O O X
O X O

When you do it, the bike will go to dealer mode. If nothing is wrong, it will display the TPS calibration -C00 (the dash will move around with throttle input). As soon as an error is detected by the sytem, the light will come on, and the code will be displayed (-C46 most likely).

One of those wires is white with a red stripe. Hook things up wrong and you might fry something, so be careful!
So I want to make sure I insert the clip into the set of holes where they BOTH have wires coming out? If theres wires coming out of both holes, how do I get the paperclip in? Or am I misunderstanding the process?

did you not see the pic in the link you posted in your fist post? Inside the dealer mode switch are small copper connections - put the paperclip there. Wedge it in softly until it can stay in on its own. You won't shock yourself or something. If you find the paperclip is too thick, use a piece of spare wire (like most people) I keep a piece in my wallet at all times.
