Im starting off with a 600 i have a little experience on a bike and feel confident ill take it easy. I was wondering whats the major differences between 06 and 05 gixxers 600 ? Theres a pretty steep price difference between the two i found in my area and the 05 has less miles and is amazing condition body wise looks like it was the girls baby. (girl rider who is selling) the 06 on the other hand has seen a bit and looks like it was dropped on the right side.

Basically what are the differences of the two year wise and which do you guys think is better than the other? one year newer worth the difference, is there some major changes in the gixxer from 05 to 06?

thanks!

06 is when the new 'updated' body style came out i believe, correct me if I'm wrong. the 05s look a little dated to me IMO
yeah i feel that way too. Id most likley get all new fairings and black it out but for starters the bike is gonna break me. its a lot of money for newer body though. Anyone know if sittings different? one more comfortable than other?

:cheers

When I was searching for my bike, I knew I wanted the newest technology and design. The 05 is definitely outdated to today's concepts and I personally love not having a huge ugly pipe on the side, just gets easier to burn my girls leg in the 05.

Say adios amigo to your turn signals if you drop the 05 as well :sad

I started my GSXR love @ '06, picked it for the integrated turn signals (Had gone from gs500 -> '06 GSXR 750 -> '07 GSXR 750). Go with the '06 for that extra bit of visibility -- if it were about looks though, the '05 is gorgeous in comparison ;)

//Likes the older bodies myself, but *had* to have the integrated turn signals without the extra effort in pursuing aftermarket / doing wiring / etc.

About the same. The way to get comfortable on a sportbike is to just put in many miles and lots of long rides on a regular basis. Your body has to get used to it, and it helps to be in shape. I know guys who've ridden for years and they still hurt because they never go on rides longer than two hours, they think a 5 hour ride is a major road trip, their hands cramp after 20 minutes and they have to keep standing up on the pegs because their ass hurts. And they drink every night and never work out. That separates the bike night parking lot riders wearing thousands of dollars of high end gear to look cool from the hard core riders who are wide awake early Saturday morning ready for a full day of carving corners. The only downside to being the latter is you have to spend more money to replace tires every two months :biggrin

Personally a bigger fan of the newer body styles But the 05 is still gorgeous none the less. Go with the cheaper bike, especially since it sounds like its in better shape to begin with.
But the more you spend the more its going to break your heart the first you have to replace fairings because you took your eyes out of a turn and went down! (I know it pissed me off!) good luck with the new bike. :cheers
