i dont think this is a repost anywhere but motorcyclenews.com posted this video yesterday on the tube!
the k9 1k i put a speedodrd on was off by almost 9%...I dont believe that. I think that suzuki, kawi, yam, honduh and the rest are more accurate nowadays then prior old bikes. I mean they still prob are not 100 % accurate but prob closer then the older bikes. I think they need to set up GPS Speedometers as a standard in every bike produced that way these damn speed/real speed threads can vanish!
maybe im wrong though. wheres a suzuki tech?
stock gears?the k9 1k i put a speedodrd on was off by almost 9%...
You forgot, not to wear a helmet bc of added weight. instead use a swimmers cap.judging by the vid, i bet you could squeeze 190 mph if you wore a tank top instead of a jacket
yes, stock gearing.stock gears?
:lmao:lmao:lmaojudging by the vid, i bet you could squeeze 190 mph if you wore a tank top instead of a jacket
+1 :chucksHonestly this makes me wonder why I even bought a liter bike. A 600 is more than would ever need I need.

just in your speedo and lube your body up with either butter or ky.

my bike normally reads 5-7mph over the actual speed i checked it with the local speed check radar
A speedo drd helps put things into perspective. :shiftyThey will always read decently faster so that some street squid can never take them to court claiming the speedometer was telling him he was going SLOWER than he actually was when a cop pulled him over for speeding.
By putting a comfortable 5-8% + error into the speedo the mfgr's have a legal CYA to protect themselves......and it also boosts the egos of the uninformed who think their bikes are going 15mph faster than they really are, so its a double bonus![]()
I have two bikes that do not come from Japan. Both their speedo's read exactly the same as my GPS.They will always read decently faster so that some street squid can never take them to court claiming the speedometer was telling him he was going SLOWER than he actually was when a cop pulled him over for speeding.

I think the difference between a bigger bike and a 600 is simply that on a 600 one can use all the available power. On a bigger bike that is not easy to do. On my 600, when I am doing 70mph in 6th gear, I always find myself looking at the gear indicator after starting the ride. The high RPM buzz makes me think I got stuck in 2nd gear.Honestly this makes me wonder why I even bought a liter bike. A 600 is more than would ever need I need.
yeah i was trying to keep it at 40 and the radar read 34It doesn't read 5-7mph over. It reads 5-7mph over when you are at a particular speed. I'm assuming you were going slow enough to read the radar on the side of the road.
The error is a percentage not a fixed number of units, so the faster you go the more it will be off. So for example if it's 5-7mph off at 50mph, it will be 10-14 off at 100 and 15-21 off at 150 and so on and so on.
