Hi,
I've been dealing with a flat spot around the 4800rpm mark and want to have a go at tuning it out (standard ECU... can't afford PC and pro tuning).
This really only becomes apparent when coasting or at low throttle apertures while commuting. Not sure how much, perhaps <10% of the full movement.
Its getting more noticeable than it was and unfortunately 4800rpm seems to be right where I sit on our various road limits in different gears. ie 50kph in 2nd, 60kph in 3rd, etc (yes those are Aussie, please don't worry too much about conversion to mph) and quite often affects confidence when it happens when cornering at low-moderate speeds.
I'm sure its related to throttle position so I'm currently thinking TPS adjustment may help.
I've checked and tensioned the throttle cables appropriately (they were a bit loose). I'm not sure its injector related as I'd expect issues at more than just one limited band in the rev range if it was fuel blockage.
So I've shorted it into dealer mode and warmed up and at 1300rpm I get -C00. That's Ok. So I open the throttle a little expecting to see Íž C00 ...but it stays -C00 until I get to around 2600rpm.
Someone mentioned that some people like it to move to the upper position Íž with little throttle movement... not sure how tight they mean but maybe move to upper line by 1400-1600rpm, etc
So I suppose the question here is;
Is the slow TPS response going to be the main contributor to the flat spot or will adjustment likely yield no difference?
I haven't tried yet due to not having the tool, but it would be good to get some opinions up front.
I'm also curious what mechanical reasons are behind the flat spot, ie: what is happening at 4800 rpm that's not happening elsewhere in the rev range.
Cheers for reading.
I hope someone has gone through this before and can give some first hand feedback.
