Okay, long story short, this dude sold his bike because he saw his friend fall and was scared to get back on. I bought his bike because it was just sitting in the garage not being used... but now, I'm feeling stupid because I think I could have gotten a better deal somewhere.

It is a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R 600. It was bought brand new by the guy... He sold it to me with 685 miles on the speedometer. I was thinking I basically was getting a brand new bike... BUT because it's an 05 I feel like I'm stuck with an old bike, with uber low miles... I paid $4800 cash. It's a fun little bike, it's my FIRST bike actually...

My mindset was that I was getting pretty much a brand new bike for $4800, but if it were stolen or crashed, I would only get KBB value for a 2005 because in actuality, it is NOT a brand new bike... it is almost 5 years old.

Somebody tell me if I screwed myself and should have bought a new bike or if I still did good and got a steal... I'm kicking myself in the ass for second guessing this decision...

i would of paid 4500. as long as it was stored properly. most likely someone would want 4500 for it with 10000 miles for an 05. i love that year nice bike. you should replace the tires if it just sat and the fluids. ill give ya 3 for it right now.

KBB says suggested retail on your bike is $5280

http://www.kbb.com/motorcycle/retail/2005/suzuki/gsx_r600/79386

And that is with normal mileage, which for a nearly 5 year old motorcycle is going to be over 20,000 miles.

So you got it for $480 and a lot of miles less............so you got a good deal. And if as you said it's your FIRST bike, then it's going to be plenty of bike for you to learn on. And as your skills improve its still going to have PLENTY of performance. Right now YOU are the limiting factor on how fast the bike will go. The bike is plenty capable to handle anything you can throw at it.

you should just take my offer for 3g's and cut your losses now before the motor goes. i mean 5 years who wants something that old

ya for sure man that sounds like a plan..I'll hit you up once the this shitty weather goes away.

$3,200 here :biggrin

Nah man, you got a good deal. Keep it, ride it, gear up, have fun. That bike is plenty fast for you, especially as a first bike. 2005 is not an old bike by any means....

Pretty good deal. Don't think of the bike as "old". You have a true beast in your hands and with proper maintenance these bikes will easily last 100k + miles. And the 04-05 body style is my favorite.

Lol... you guys are funny... Thanks alot man. My husband said it was a good bike, but told me I'd lose alot of money on the KBB if it were wrecked or stolen. Then that's awesome ~ thanks for looking it up! I shoulda done it myself I guess! LoL...:biggrin

I think you got an excellent deal. As far as it being "old" don't give it another thought. I ride a 2000 R6 at the track and my buddy rides a 99. These bikes are amazing- far better than any of us on this forum are as riders. You will likely never ride that bike at 70% of its true potential after years of riding it! Good luck- ride safe!!

dude, whatever. who cares if it's "old."
First off, I think the K4/K5 600s look great. I loved mine. I like the way they look with the full fairings and sharp lines.

Second, aside from creature comforts like a gear indicator, there are practically no benefits to a new motorcycle over one that is a few years old. You could go get a 2000 GSXR 600 and you wouldn't be able to ride it to its potential (and those bikes are tanks in comparison).

My only concern is how it was stored. 5 years of sitting and engine internals can actually start to rust. The oil on the cylinder walls eventually runs down/stops covering it. Stuff like that.
