one post about this exact helmet and exact issue not enough huh?

http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246779&highlight=helmet

what the hell? Some kind of attention whore or something. One bad experience does not translate into the "norm" even a newbie can figure that out for themselves. I can take a $1000 helmet and ruin it too. Hell, this site is littered with $10000 bikes that are shredded due to user abuse. Does that mean that suzuki should waranty those too? Or maybe we should make duplicate posts about those issues also

stink up your own bad posts with mature name calling. Wonderful!

I havent seen foam break down like that with the exception of putting cleaners, aerosols, or such chemicals on them trying to clean it. Looks like some sort of abuse to me. My helmet is 5 years old and 3rd user of the lid (mostly drag racing)......NO ISSUES!! Take care of the stuff you invest in and dont blame the manufacturer for not covering something thats 3 freaking years old

In the original thread you say that the foam is breaking up and dropping out, looking at the pic I can see that's true.

But in the second pic, I can also see white scrapes on the ceiling of the helmet and that the flap that the D-rings hang from is all cracked and worn. I've got a load of shoeis, one 9 years old with heaps of miles on it that look way better than that.

So, not only is it the foam that has degraded, but the rest of the helmet interior looks like shit too. Have you ever kept gloves in there, or indeed anything damp?

If you haven't, then I would guess that the helmet has been stored (either by you or the shop you bought it from) in a bad environment.

Fuck it man, 3 years is time for a new lid anyway, you are pissed off with shoei? Cool, get something else, but don't get too annoyed about it, life is too short.

The foam breaking down is normal wear & tair . The oils from your body(hair) attack it . Also Ozone breaks down the foam . Move on.:shifty

Do they not sell replacement liners?

Guys - $1000 lid, unusable inside 3 years. Be aware that this can happen, be aware you will not/ may not get any assistance from the manufacturer when / if it does...
This does not seem to be a one off, but everyone knows Shoei is usually a decent brand.
Fore warned is Fore armed - stay safe.

Si

That's an old Shoei RF-1000 Duhamel which I believe came out in 2004, he said he bought 2 years later in 2006. Look at the helmets chin strap :wtf

I have a couple of helmets that I bought in 2005 and they've seen a decent amount of use and none of the staps look worn like that unless this guy has sandpaper for skin.

This deterioration is from abuse, not manufacturing problems because it's obviously not just the liner that's coming apart.
