Sorry if a repost I went through 5 pages of threads and couldn't find an answer.

So tomorrow I will be going to Jennings. Hers my prob/question. My BT016's are at about there limit down the centers from commuting to/from work about 120 miles a day in basically a straight line but the sides are fine almost new for that matter... But I have a set of power race tires with one practice session on them. The problem is that they are 120/190's and mine are 120/180's. what will be the effects on the bike and is it not a good idea to run them and jst get a set at the track or run what i have and use them up and get new after my track day?
Looking for suggestions as it has been since 92 that I have been on a track and got off sport bikes and went to cruse bikes till last year.

The flat spotted 016s are a bad idea, and probably wont pass any sort of tech anyway. the turn in will be fubar with that flat spot really.

the 190 rear will raise the rear and cause your bike to turn in much different from what you are used to, as well as the profile being pinched on a rim made for 180s, so the side grip will not be as good.

Basically, if I were you and had the money, I would get a new set of tires. Preferably something more dual purpose than the race tires you have set aside now. Something like a Pilot Power 2ct (decent tire) or Pirellie Diablo Corsa III. Still a damn good street tire, and great trackday tire as well.

Thanks Moto_Joe! Thats exactly the info I was needing. Looks like ill get me a new set of tires The track only has Pilot Power's so I guess Ill be trying them out. :scratch Tho I do like the BT016's... Again thanks for the info!!!:cheers

yeah, jennings only carries michelins I think. I love michelins, especially their race tires. Their super sport tires though like the 2ct, and pilot powers are great tires, but there are a few others I think are slightly better over all. They perform damn well, but their life is not great really. Never run Bt016s, so I cant compare the two for you though :dunno.

And I have never run Michelin's I have always run Bridgestone or Pirellie's through out the years tho the tires have changed as much as the bikes since I have been on a sport bike. :shiftyI gotta say tho I'm havin a blast and am glad I let my then 14yr old daughter talk me into getting another one:biggrin

Hell, tires have changed radically in the last 5 or so years, let alone 20 :eek. :lol

Todays street and hybrid tires, probably perform BETTER than the full race tires you rode on in 92.

:crying man now your makin me feel old....:lmao

the sad thing is Im sure your right. Now I hope that it comes back to me out there and I dont look like an azz:lol

Its like riding a bike......... :D

:lol

you will be fine. Just keep it in your head you are there for FUN. Not to try to get a lap record. No reason to try to see how fast you can go before you crash..... there is only one way to find out.

And I am assuming 69 is your birth year, and40 year old bones, dont heal like they used to :p. That or 69 is your age...... then the sentiment still stands :phhht

Yep yep and the rest of the screen name explains the rest. Funny.... wifey says the same things:lol

Lets jst say that I havent always been as coolheaded as I am now:lol

I am much calmer now even at 30 than I used to be.... if I am still able to ride at 40 I might be so calm I call asleep :p........

That is what old people do anyways right...... :p. Kidding dude.

Have fun. If you need any pointers about the track itself, I have not been there in nearly three years, but I know a few tricks about it :D I will be going first weekend in december though with sTT

It was brought to my attention that you didnt state if the 190 was a 190/50 or a 190/55. I assumed it was a 190/50. But there is a difference in the two, significant.

190/55...

But all is good! I ask the control riders and they told me that my BT016's were fine on the sides to go ahead and run them for the day but that I will be needin some new ones after the day was over.

WOW!!!! What a Blast!!!!! Man I shoulda never got off these things!

Ill post up some more after I get them all to photobucket:punk

Im on the blk bike. The 2nd pic is at the gas station on the way. And the last one is a buddy's bike after an (about 70mph and 20+ foot in the air) high-side. He is ok but did brake his right big toe and ankle, and his left foot.

Ouch. Where did he highside?

And if it is a 190/55, my info was a bit wrong. They do have more side grip, not less, but they fuck up geometry so you have to account for it to get teh benefits of them
