I'm just retarded. I pulled another "koolaid"... As some of you know the other day I took the bike on another test ride and the sifter lever magically came unbolted from the shift lever. I had to pull over and put it in 3rd gear by hand to putt on home. It sucked. I was annoyed by YET another problem with the bike even though it was a small one, so I put her in a time out and didn't talk to her for a few days. UNTIL... I was forced to. I had to make it to a dr. appt to get my head shrunk and right before I walked out the door I realized my keys were still in the wife's minivan from the PA trip and she was at work. SO.... I ran out to the garage, bolted up the shifter arm/lever, checked the gas just to be sure I had enough to make it..... It was a little low, so I was just going to throw some in from the mower gas can. When I realized it was in the shed locked up and would take me all of 2 min to go get it I decided I had enough and could just fuel up after my appt. SO, I jumped on the bike and took off....

WELL.... halfway there I looked down and guess what :hammer no gas cap. After deciding not to gas up at home I never fully screwed the cap back on :cursing. So no more purty, shiny, raised "S" gas cap. It wasn't high quality like a vortex racing cap or anything, but it wasn't just a $20 cheapo either. I found a few others on ebay, but just the cap is around $60 and I'm not sure if it will fit the base I have. They said it will fit a vortex base, but I'm PRETTY sure that's not what I have and not sure what the thread pitch is and they won't measure for me :( OR..... I could get one of these that include the base....

I'd rather this one be polished, but could always paint it :dunno they only have black.

Or this quick release one.... not sure .....

laugh away man.... it's ok. I am :lol too. How can I not? If I got upset everytime I did stupid shit I would just walk around angry all the time :biggrin

thought you like black.you know the old saying? once you go.....

Dude, that sucks... :sad

I'm glad you're taking it ok though.... I've done stuff like that before and was like :banghead

I had a BMW (1974 BMW 2002) with a screw off cap. One day, I left it on the trim piece between the body and rear bumper while I gassed up. I drove about 50 miles from the gas station, got out and low and behold there was my gas cap. That was lucky.

I still think your bike looks great :biggrin

:lol thanks man... Maybe I'll take some more pics after I get cap put back on and the lowers reinstalled :biggrin

Hey....does anyone have a cap laying around that they don't need to hold me over until I can afford the blingage I want? Or can find exactly what I want? :dunno

Ballz - I'm ignoring that comment, by the way :shifty

Hey.... no reason to keep you guys from laughing too. It's not as much fun to laugh by yourself :biggrin

it's not only you koolaid, you are simply secure within yourself to admit these things. good quality. :punk

anyhows, my opinion is to go with the stock suzuki cap for quality/fit and you can't forget the cap since it is hinged on. i'm not a fan of the aftermarket stuff.

but my other one was PURTY :(

Michael - I'll take it and can send it back your way if you want it when I eventually get something else......OR I may just shit can the idea of getting another one if you don't need it. Just let me know what you want for it. :cheers

oldboy to the rescue yet again :biggrin

:spit:spit:lmao:lmao

As for the shift lever get a bolt thats a small length longer, and put a compression washer, and nut on the other side, Mines a little stripped, and that sure did clamp it on there. As for the cap?..::lolThats funny right there I don't care who you are.:lol

To make you feel a bit better. Like 4 years back when my gas cap didn't have a key. I took off down the highway ramp one time after leaving the gas station from filling up, and noticed...hmmm, man my pants sure are cool?:monkeyface I looked down, and there was fuel just spraying out, right back on everything. My pants shirt, and jacket was fuel soaked. that only happened one time, after that you'll remember to lock your gas cap EVERY time! :lol

Yeah....luckily I didn't have much in the tank :biggrin BUT....then like the dumbass I am I topped it off after my dr. appt. using a washcloth shoved in there as my "cap". You'd THINK I just would have added a little bit so the cloth didn't absorb a lot and get totally soaked.....but NOOOO not me :lol

I HOPE that only happens once. I found another cap just like mine on ebay after about a week of searching, so hopefully it will be here sometime this week. :cheers
