i wouldnt run them on the street they wont get up to temp on street riding and will make it harder for u to ride on the street.. also u dont want to put too many heat cycles on the tires...ull end up destroying the tire and it will end up with less traction then the 2cts.... track only yes with warmers....as far as street use goes i def would not recommend it.....

Short answer: No - for the reasons stated above. In addition you'll probably override your abilities and crash thinking DOT's are some magic traction bullet.

Longer answer: YES you "can" ride DOT's on the street - YES they do take warmer to warm up and you'll never get them to "true" operating temperature and "full" traction - but YES you will have the same if not more traction than the 2CT's once fully warmed. Furthermore YES they will wear very very fast and heat cycle to be as hard as bricks with continued street use.

People who ride DOT takeoffs on the street do so with the knowledge of the traction limits, and typically ride them with a reduced pace (relative to track pace) and or use them to commute for cheap rubber for a few thousand miles.

My recommendation - from your previous posts you've done a trackday or two here in Norcal. Keep with your 2CT's and keep learning. Once you get to an HONEST 2:15 Thill pace - then try some DOT's. You'll be shocked how many "mistakes" DOTs cover up and you'll have some true "feel" for traction limits. You'll progress a LOT faster than the folks that switch to race rubber on their first B group trackday only to crash BIG once they push to a slower A group pace...

everyone on here will prob say no...and for the reasons they give i am with them on it....

i run the 2ct's also

but...

my buddy i ride with rides on nothing but pilot race take offs---some are pretty beat on when he gets them..he hasnt ever had a prob or gone down on them..he took a pair that was worn about 50% to the gap and was draggin knee with no issues...also we ride hear in the winter when its like 45 degrees and he rides on them cold...

like i said i prob wouldnt run them and there are alot of reasons prob not to, but he does with no probs at all

In addition to what has already been said, for that price, those tires will be OLDDDDDDDDDDDddddddddd tires. Probably two generations old at least. They will not be worth a crap for a track tire.

FWIW, I ride nothing but my takeoffs on the street, then again I know their limitations on the street and ride accordingly. Plus its much friendlier to my annual tire budget. Your buddy probably does the same.
