I'm with this guy... it's almost like advertising for these guys.
Besides, 90 for a cd is freakin ridiculous.... the dude who usually shoots the Laguna days only charges 40...
It's outrageous with what these guys charge. One image sent via email is $25. So you should get the 'deal' which is the cd for $75. Fuck that. You have no option, there's only one photographer there. And the photographer has got his son out there taking the pics that ANYONE could take....

They charge that cause they can...doesnt make it right.

No, ANYONE cannot take those pictures. First off, have you priced the equipment they use? I bought Lora over $3,500 in camera/lenses...and she still doesn't have the kind of shit they use.

Secondly, most track organizations give photographers access to areas that aren't available to the public. Even if you had the $10,000 camera/lenses, you don't have ability to go on the track and sit 20' from the apex of T4 etc.

You do have options. As a matter of fact, you have 4 options.

1. Don't buy the pictures from them and stop fucking bitching about it.
2. Buy the pictures from them and stop fucking bitching about it.
3. Get your own $10,000 camera/lenses, request access to the key areas on the track, take your own pictures and stop fucking bitching about it.
4. Don't worry about getting pictures at all and stop fucking bitching about it.

This may contradict some earlier statements but it's just a small understanding I do have behind part of it. But I have made a few purchases from these guys. $25 for an image might be worth it if you are getting a full size image for that price. I'm not talking an image that you might be able to only pull an 8x10 photo out of then anything larger will give you a pixelated print. Full size is when you can make a poster size print and zoom in and see the sweat dripping down your head through the tinted visor.

Prices can vary depending on track from what I have seen. Being that we only have one company that runs track days at Cali speedway they do have a lock on the price but I'm sure they do have a large overhead. My buddy that runs his own track day company informed me that all vendors have to pay $2-300 to be there over the weekend. If it is a larger company, you do have staff to pay. Some/most tracks will require the photographer to furnish his own insurance because although usually out of a danger zone, being anywhere on the infield not behind barriers on a track can be dangerous. Fuel to get to the track, I know Orguss drove from Orange county, CA to get to the track in Nevada and that's easily a 5hr drive for him not including the hotel he had to stay in probably two nights minimum. Most of these guys do have to pay to keep their sites running, even if using a system like smugmug.com. And as Jam states, to get good equipment cost big $$$. The lense my brother was using cost more than his actual camera. He rented it for that one weekend and it cost him $150. I'm sure the profit margin isn't as big as some of us may think. Business is business and people set stuff up to make money but there are certain industries and especially anything that is Art oriented where a passion is a huge part of it and some guys just want to be out there to be out there.

IMO, if you post a pic with the watermark that's not stealing. If you got the picture, removed the watermark and then started posting that then yes it's stealing. It's like quoting a book...if you make the correct references it's not copyright infringement. If you dont then that's plagarism. In this case the reference is the watermark itself. Unless the photographer/site says explicity they are not to be saved, copied, linked etc...it should be fine.

But then again, what do I know...:dunno

First, TOEJAM...as a matter of fact...go fuck yourself.

I don't care if they have equipment that could take shots of a motorcycle on the moon. Doesn't mean I am going to pay for it, and I don't.

Yes I know the price they pay for their equipment all to well. Does anyone care what you bought Lora? I don't have the "ability"? Wrong word Assfuck, I have the ability but not the permission.

I think it's a ripoff what SOME of these guys charge. That's the 5th option...to voice my opinion. Yet you felt it necessary to "bitch" about my opinion. Are all 35 fucking thousand of your posts bitching too?

I knew people would disagree with my post but it must have been a sensitive area for you. Cnyncrvr's reply post had some good points.

Blah, blah, blah :crying.
What a douche :rolleyes

So you aren't going to pay for it...then why steadily bitch about it? :wait If you don't want to buy the fucking pictures...then don't. End of story.

My post had some good points too, you just couldn't see them because of the tears in your eyes.

Maybe you should check your own grammar before you start trying to call somebody else out on their terminology. :rolleyes

Doing good, hating the off-season...but looking forward to next year.

How are things with the new Mrs. Soysauce? :D
things are good bro. Wedding planning = teh suxorz tho :hammer Parents are involving themselves way too much :banghead and finding vendors :banghead Well the vendors are just because I'm lazy too....

her - "hon, have you called xxxx"
me sitting on the couch all day watching football - "uhhhhh I was supposed to do that?"
her - "fine, I'll do it"
me - "ok babe, just let me know how much"

:lol

No conspiracy here but yes, going to bat for my bro. I'm just starting out with shooting but I'm legit. www.ibdphotos.com

Joe, sorry you spent so much money but it's worth it. I keep it pretty simple though: Canon 40D and rent a 70-200mm 2.8 ISL with a 2x Extension Tube (Which on my camera gives me about 640mm equiv). Why buy when you can rent!? www.borrowlenses.com

Peace!

Dude, just because you're gay, which I assume by your little cartoon character in your sig you are. And I have no issue with that...but because you suck dick shouldn't mean you act like one. Done with you.
