Awesome!!! All the rear tires i did on my mx bikes were painful. Tug of war. 2 day process. But once i found out the guys at the track do it for 10 bucks a tire that was all she wrote. Unless i had the tire machine i wouldn't attempt street tires.

Thats the biggest problem im having. It wants to keep popping up into the bead seat in the tire. How do you keep the tire in the center?
I used a C clamp and squashed the two beads together.

You guys think the post was funny, I should have taken pics of the "hoverbike" - I had it hanging from the garage rafters with tie straps while I was doing this.

Thats exactly what mines doing right now with two orange ratchet straps:shifty

I gave up. Some of the rubber on the inside bead is starting to flake, which will probably be a leak. 2 tires down the drain. FUCK!

:lol

I use two large spoons, a wooden bead breaker I made, a 4x4 cut in half, and some tire grease - takes me about 20 minutes per tire including a few beer breaks... Balancing takes a few more minutes. I am going to try balance beads next time to speed that up...

I just invested in some tire changing equipment myself. After talking with some peeps I bought the Harbor Fright tire changer with the motorcycle attachment. I then purchased the Mojo blocks to cover the metal on the rim holder of the Harbor Fright setup. Instead of getting the NoMar bar or the Mojo bar I bought the No-Scufftiretool ( http://no-scufftiretool.com/index.html )and have had no problems changing tires myself. Seems like the most economical and easiest solution to tire changing. My 2 cents.

I own the complete No-Mar tire changer/balancer, takes me 10 minutes and no worries of scratching my Marvics :biggrin

Dude its a pain in the ass but i did it with 3 of the jacks from like the trunk of your car. Used 2 to lift the rear of bike and the third as a "bead breaker". Just put your rim on 2 pieces of 2x4 under a car.. line up the square edge as close as possible to your bead and start jacking.. once it breaks flip her and repeat.. then pry her off with lots of lube and i pryed with basically just 2 screwdrivers and 2 of the bondo spreader things (to not scratch my rims). Off with old in with the new.. seat the beads.. balance.. mount.. done.. took me about an hour because i was trying to figure out what i could use and balancing it. I've had more trouble with bmx tires and i'm not joking.

Changing a tire buy hand sure will put some hair on your chest. Fuuuuuuck Thaaaat.

How much is the NoMar changer?

You should try breaking the bead on a backhoe/loader tire. Not fun.
Or some Honda ATV rims are nearly as hard. The bead area has an extra lip, so when it seats it is seriously locked in. I have seen pneumatic bead breakers not be able to bust the bead, it just tears into the tire instead :hammer

the classic No-Mar changer is $795

i bought some tire spoons from northern tool, and a bead breaker from harbor freight. use soapy water in a spray bottle, and that is it. takes me about 20 minutes to do both tires without breaking a sweat.
